Couldn't even manage Championship football let alone Champios League.

Unfair. He was excellent for us in the Champions League Quarter Final against a superb Atlético Madrid team.

I know you were probably just making a joke though ?

Many being abit harsh on Benny. At the backend of 2016-17 when he was given a run in the team alongside Wes or Huth, he looked decent (including the CL games). It's when both Wes and Huth got injured and Benny had to play alongside Fuchs, that he looked out his depth, culminating in that dire game against Spurs. Alot of that has to do with Fuchs being no CB. Shakey lost all faith in Benny after that lunge in pre season and he's never been given a run of games since then. We've got better options now, so hopefully Benny can find a decent club and move on.

We were also playing Albrighton at right back at that  point

If his first love was to play the game, then he should prove it and move on. It’s not his fault that he was given a golden egg of a contract with us, but you have to question his desire to further his own career, rather than just picking up a pay cheque and not even play, at any level.

ive got nothing personally against him. Just questioning his current decisions.

Valid point

That's what I find strange, that he doesn't seem to get active himself, even travel around UK,or abroad to sell himself.keeping his UK home,

Until he finds something definite.

That's how I started, going overseas, and pushed to find my own jobs...

Mind you it I was getting his pay check,I just might say....f#k it and enjoy life...

What decisions are these out of interest? Do we know that he's turned moves down or not kept himself fit or something?

If you believe what you read (which I appreciate can obviously be bs) he’s had quite a lot of interest and links. Yet he’s still here, still not forced a move.

"thanks for all the messages you sent me these days unfortunately the market closed yesterday evening and consequently I can not for the moment return but I bring you in my heart I wish you a wonderful championship"

That's from the man himself referring to the interest from Parma. Doesn't sound to me that he's doing much wrong at all.

So we’re meant to deduce what from this exactly?

Parma showned some interest (presumably they know when their own window shuts!) but Benny says “sorry I can’t come to you ‘cus your window :blink:shuts tonight! You’re too late guys!”

Wtf.

If he wants to go and play regular football, he could. The guy is probably a top bloke, but I get the impression he’s happy to sit tight and just pick up the wages. More fool us.

Isn't he a free agent if his contract has been mutually terminated.

So has he had his contract terminated by mutual consent?

A claim made by just one (dubious) French source as of yet. Nothing has been reported on it, no confirmation whatsoever.

Although I'd rather have him off the books sooner than later.

It’s in interesting way of looking at things, because on that basis each prem team should only have about 15 players in their squad as none others will get regular football and would be good enough to play elsewhere... wherever that should take them, right?

personally for me it would be very difficult to take a huge pay cut, no matter how silly my current company were for giving me the wage I am currently on.

Mercury said that rumour was not true.

Benalouane now has 6 hope players in front of him, in his position. Six. You have to look at each player’s individual circumstances.

Agree re the pay cut. I don’t necessarily think it’s a stupid stance to take, financially. I just find it sad with regards his ambition. I guess he’s in his 30s now.

Preparing for life after football already, maybe...

He probably won't leave a penny behind here and I don't blame him to be fair.

If he moves on it will be for a free with us supplementing his wages for the last season of his contract. He looked like an awful buy on paper before he kicked a ball for us and has lived up to that expectation.

He reached the pinnacle of his ambition by being lucky enough to play for us. Trouble is he got ambition mixed up with ability. No one else in the Prem would touch him because he just isn't good enough. He was our mistake and we just have to live with it like the other flops, until we can get rid of him.

I like him but I know for a fact he will make an incredibly stupid challenge at least once every game, which at this level isn't acceptable. He's had numerous opportunities, now it's time to move on, if he gets an offer he likes. I'll always remember him fondly.
