Ligue 1 side enquire about Leicester defender’s situation, asked Rudkin directly

Explaining back in June, to no one’s surprise, that he was unhappy at Leicester City, Yohan Benalouane still hasn’t found a landing spot elsewhere.

The Tunisia international, who played 49 minutes against Belgium at the World Cup, isn’t in Claude Puel’s plans this season, and is looking for a way out.

According to Foot Mercato in France, one option for the 31-year-old could be Bordeaux in Ligue 1, who are said to have asked about his situation.

The French website state Diego Poyet’s club had a few questions for Jon Rudkin about the centre-back, as Bordeaux look to add some depth to their squad before their transfer window shuts on August 31st.

No potential fee is mentioned, but considering how little Benalouane has been used over the past few seasons, our guess is Leicester will be just glad to see the back of him, and there’s no doubt the feeling will be mutual.

Yeah can't imagine we'd ask for much, contract expires next year as well. Just freeing up his position and wages would be as good at getting any kind of transfer fee I think. He's not going to play any games for us.

He's so far out of favour that he's not even U23 fodder now. We've literally excused him and he's on holiday instead lol

Great stuff, get him moved along. Well over due.

Take anything they offer and, providing we don't pay any wages for the remaining year on his contract, we should be muchas grateful.

On holiday in Italy

Did anyone see his #notfair hashtag in an Instagram story a day or two back referring to being left out lol

Will he get a statue

He should.

Then we just let Benny loose to slide tackle it and break its leg.

Great news for both parties, he has no chance of playing under Puel and another big wage gone off the books freeing up a squad number for Sam Hughes maybe....

Bordeaux rang Rudders direct so no agents fees sucked out of any deal .

If Benny had an agent he probably retired after landing the gig with us - !:D

Very true ?

No need for agents when the conversation goes “we’re interested in Benalouane” and the reply is “sure, what time can you pick him up. “

Not looking too bad, within a week or so we’ve offloaded Musa, Leo and Slim, and now hopefully, Benny. Anyone else?

Hopefully King and iborra or Silva. Then maybe we might get a loan in our self. Barkley would be a good choice for midfield..

Don’t think we can loan in, only out to EFL teams.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Can we not even get a loan from Europe.

No. The window is closed as far as I understand it to all registered players incoming. Only way we can add is a free agent if we have space in our 25 man squad.

We can loan out to EFL and still sell or loan to mainland European teams till 31st August.

I knew we couldn't buy anyone but I thought we could still loan players up to 31st Aug.

You've cleared it up nicely. Thanks.

Am I weird in saying I'll miss the geezer if he goes?

He's like the players version of Bernie! Nice to know he's alive but you don't want to see to much of him lol
