Right then, got a flight booked, long haul and I can’t get up to go to the loo as I will panic. I am okay sitting in my seat, but wandering around and I don’t like it.

So I got some valium from the doc as I hear that can take the edge off any anxiety and all will be well.

I asked the doctor if I could drink with the Valium and he said if I did, I wouldn’t be able to get out my seat to get to the toilet as I will be that tired.

So Tuesday I took a Valium, 5mg and felt nothing. So I had half a glass of wine and still felt nothing. So I had half a bottle and I felt just like I had half a bottle of wine. The Valium had no affect.

So basically, do I need to take another Valium, even though it says only take one?

I am on top deck, are the toilets on top and bottom deck? Someone told me they are only downstairs?

I am am thinking about taking two Valium as a trial next week, but wondered whether that is dangerous.

Any ideas

Can't help with valium. But if you're on the upper deck it must be an A380 or B747. If you look on seatguru for your flight number you'll see the location of toilets etc

Definitely toilets on both decks though

I would clarify with a doctor or at least someone with medical knowledge because you don't want to the advice from a football forum and it then knock you out.

10mg valium won't kill you, I take that much on the rare occasions I use it but if you do have that much then I would avoid alcohol all together. I'd suggest taking 10mg as a trail and seeing how it affects you.

What effect were you expecting to feel, Rob?

Valium is a fairly subtle drug, it won’t knock you out like a sleeping pill would. What it will do is to lessen feelings of anxiety, which is (presumably) the effect you’re looking for. I would take one 5mg prior to flying and only take another at a later stage, if necessary. I’d advise against mixing it with alcohol altogether as it reduces its effectiveness. If you’d rather sleep through the entire experience, ask for some zopiclone.

Hi, nurse here. You can take 15mg in one go, should help you sleep. Would advise against alcohol with it but you'll make your own decision I'm sure. Don't take more than 30mg in 24 hours. Enjoy your holiday.

I’ve considered this when I go Cambodia in a few weeks. I have absolutely no issue with flying just feel like getting off my tits on an 11 hour flight. Any good?

I was expecting to feel all chilled. People say you don’t care about anything so would happily just wander around a plane if you took it. But I just felt the same.

Nurse in thread lower said upto 15mg so I will try 10 next week.

I've done it a few times (drinking and Valium on planes) and never had any issue getting up.

Honestly think the valium is just a placebo.

If you're scared of flying, drink red wine, puts you to sleep.

Are you sure it’s Valium and not Viagra ?

If if you take two Viagra you might put someone’s eye out going down those stairs.

Try and get some Zopiclone (7.5mg), two beers and one of those will put you out. I call it the "equalizer" as you'll sleep better than the people in business class. Should get 8hrs kip.

Have a bottle of water and some mints for when you wake up, your mouth will be like a badgers arse, and that's an understatement.

I don't have an issue with flying but i've done more than my fair share of long haul flights to the states to find something that makes you sleep.

Two Valium, not sure it did anything. Two and a half glasses of wine  after that and it felt like I had drank 5/6 pints.

I slept like I have never slept before.

Now let’s try the plane journey.
