Leicester City’s owner: why should it be offensive to say he was a migrant?

Vile women who sees race issues and the far right in everything she does.  She is a race baiter that creates responses which she classes as racist so that she can claim to be a victim, which in turn creates more books and media appearances for herself.

Not too long ago she led calls for Nelson's Column to be pulled down as he was around when people had slaves and might have owned some even though she acknowledged that it couldn't be proven.

She is just another victim currency trader.

It's only terrible in the definition of idiots like her - worryingly a high number of them seem to have a say these days.

One of them even became President of the United States... :(

It's obviously not offensive. Freddy Mercury was an immigrant and helped define English music. So what if people on social media talk shite. It's social media. Stupid article. If she wants to write it, fine, but a tenuous link to Leicester City at this time is crass.

I’ve read her book, called Brit(ish) which is thought provoking and at times uncomfortable to read as a middle aged white man, but it is interesting.

Although I don’t live in Leicester any more I’m mighty proud of our city which is arguably the best example of harmonious and accepting integration in the country.

Don’t think you said anything ‘wrong’ @UpTheLeagueFox. I would suggest the precise opposite in fact.

I've never judged anyone by colour or race. Vichai has only ever tried to give to us. Although from a different culture he's tried successfully to be part of us.

Good and bad everywhere (having to bite my tongue) look at Dan Roan (didn't even use bad language)

My biggest gripe ultimately is that she wants to promote her division creating during a time like this.

The writer's used the column for a bit of one upmanship after some social media squabble. I can't say it offends me personally that she mentions Vichai, especially as she's positive about our connection with him, if not with the hypocrisy of it.

But it's not much of a column. We don't know who she's aiming her rant at - an individual? a couple of people - probably Leicester fans - that she unfriended on Facebook? all white people, especially males?

And we don't really know why she's angry, either. Are the people who class Vichai as 'race-less' the same ones who consider some crimes to be 'Asian' crimes, but other crimes not 'white British'? I doubt that particular line-up of opinions is very common among white people, or otherwise, who consider Vichai to be a sad loss.

Most people are happy to acknowledge and celebrate our owners' native heritage. Most of us accept that the recent US parcel bombs were an example of 'white' terrorism. Most of us would counter-balance stories of Asian paedophile rings with sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. Does she sincerely believe otherwise?

So yeah, I thought it was rubbish.

What an odd article.

I agree with some of the narrative in part but not using Vichai as a vehicle to express it, nor is there any common, rational, mainstream, representational evidence present as a reason to do so.

It's like an emotional, drunken undergraduate submission paper - I should know I've written read a few.

This. Incoherent dribble.

I think most people stopped listening to her when she suggested that Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square should be removed because it's a "symbol of white supremacy".

I'm all for raising difficult topics and tackling them – such as racism and bigotry – but when it is done by someone who is tone deaf and attention-seeking, I fear the effort works against itself.

Racism will continue as long as people see and feel  ‘human’ differences between each other ....... sadly, there seems to be so many masquerading as anti racists who seek to maintain those differences .........

i trust you you can appreciate what I mean by ‘differences’ ..... we are, of course, all different but racists generally see some of these differences as being threatening or of a lower value to themselves .......

one day, no one will notice that anyone is visually different to them for anything other than observational reasons and we will then be close to ditching the term racism for ever ........ of course, this ‘blogger’ will then need to get a different job ..............

we should forever celebrate the diversity of our city .....it’s part of the reason we are who we are ........
