Watford fans with a touching banner at the King Power Stadium 

A classy touch from Watford fans at the King Power Stadium today - and it was reciprocated by the home team.

The travelling Hornets fans revealed a banner at the game which read : "Thank You Vichai For Allowing Us All To Dream" in tribute to Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Watford supporters group The 1881 Movement raised more than £2,500 for the flags surpassing the original £800 goal on a GoFundMe page.

Surplus cash will be donated to the Foxes Foundation, which is now named after Khun Vichai.

Khun Vichai and four others died in a helicopter accident shortly after leaving the King Power Stadium following October's match with West Ham.

A statement on the page said: "We have reached our target so we will be closing this campaign.

"We will be creating a bigger banner than originally thought about plus we will be adding a further banner naming the other four passengers on board.

"Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, any surplus monies will be divided into the charities that Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha supported locally to Leicester plus the emergency services that arrived on the scene."

The banner was warmly welcomed by the Foxes fans and by the wider football community on social media. The overwhelming consensus was that this was a classy touch from the travelling supporters. 

The fans group later tweeted: "As a thank you from @LCFC vice chairman Aiywatt (Vichai Son) for our banners, all food and drink are free. Compliments of the Vichai family. Amazing. @WatfordFC#watfordfc #footballfamily"

Absolutely class from Watford today, makes me proud to be part of a wider football community. It’s nice to know that the rough reputation football fans can have is evidently largely unjustified. The last few weeks have demonstrated the vast majority of us really are a decent bunch. Thank you Watford for today. 

 

Also, what a great gesture from Vichai’s family to reciprocate the gesture. Just proves how special our owners are and I’m sure will continue to be.
