Harry provides a presence though and will be skipper following Morgan I assume. Tbh I wouldn’t want to lose him any more than the others.
TheLittleBigMan Posted 23 December 2018 Posted 23 December 2018 How has Maguire gone down so quickly in some peoples estimation? We were raving about him after the world cup. It was only last summer. Jesus.

Nalis Posted 23 December 2018 Posted 23 December 2018 This isnt an anti spurs post as thry're a decent side but if a player of Maguire / Maddison / Chilwell standard wanted to move but then moved to Spurs (as opposed to Man C, Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea), I'd seriously question their personal ambitions at a club as limited as Spurs.

Think a lot of people sleep on spurs to much. They’ve got a great team and possibly the best manager in the league atm.

Yeah, the manager without a single trophy in his managerial career is possibly better than Pep Guardiola (7 league titles, 2 champions leagues, 3 European super cups, 3 club world cups and 8 domestic cups)...

Wasn’t talking over their whole career. I’m not oblivious to the fact that pep has won countless titles and trophies. However, in the premier league at the moment I would say poch is getting a lot more out of his squad then pep and has spent only a fraction of the money.

Unless something massively changes Spurs won’t be buying anyone of us in the near future simply because they won’t pay what we would even start to consider (50+ for each of Maguire, Chilwell and Maddison). We can also pretty much match them in terms of wages, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool are the ones to watch out for

Which is why Man City canter past Spurs, who managed to finish third in a two horse race, every time they face. Potchettino is a good manager, but possibly the best in the league? No way

Wymsey Posted 24 December 2018 Posted 24 December 2018 Derby enquired about Matty James, initially via a loan spell request, but LCFC turned it down.

And not to mention benkovic is a ready made replacement. It seems like a good deal.

I personally think Man City will still win, but Klop has to be coming a close 2nd where managers are concerned. Especially when you think (and i haven't checked this so could be way off) but amount of ££ spent on the squad.

Anyone arguing Pep isn't comfortably the best manager in the division doesn't know anything about football I’d say it’s a bit unfair to say he’s comfortably the best. He’s got a higher net spend than Klopp and Poch combined yet sits 2 points ahead of poch and 4 behind Klopp. I’m not saying he’s not a great manager and overall is fairly regarded as one of the best managers ever. However, this season, I’d say Klopp and Poch have to be considered.

BenTheFox Posted 24 December 2018 Posted 24 December 2018 The wonderful thing about having a squad of many young and homegrown players. Chilwell's value has trebled over the past few months. Just imagine if he was stuck on the bench all last season instead of being given the opportunity to develop. Even Harvey Barnes who has played fewer than 300 minutes of senior football for us could fetch over £20 million if we were to sell him now! Obviously I don't want to sell him, I'm just pointing out the benefits of having young English players on the books.

Anyone arguing Pep isn't comfortably the best manager in the division doesn't know anything about football That's not what I'm saying. You're judging Poch on the fact he hasn't won anything but he is an outstanding manager, who deserves a lot of credit. Pep has managed Barca, Munich and City ( who have been majorly bank rolled) Barca are one of two clubs that realistically take the pots on Spain and Munich doesn't need explaining. He's done brilliantly at City, not just for winning but the style in which they play. But he's been able to asset strip his rivals , which Poch hasn't had the ability to do, due to financial obligations. Personally, I'd like Poch to stay at Spurs, to see how far he can take them, but I think after their magnificent new stadium is up and running, his financial power will never match City's. Unless Levy backs him with huge cash, he'll probably have to move to a United and then we can judge him.
