Can we accommodate Maddison and Barnes in the same team?

i think what is being made clear to me about Gray is that he is an old fashioned out and out winger. he really isn’t good in any other position.

If that were true he'd at least be able to put in a decent cross (like Albrighton, when his radar is working), but I'm not sure I've seen any of those from him, either...

Schmeichel

Pereira - Morgan - Maguire - Chilwell

Mendy

Ghezzal - Maddison - Barnes

Iheanacho

Vardy

We’d be torn apart playing with this team.

would it be worth bringing him back in January for a few games and if he doesn’t make an instant impact send him back out before the window closes?

edit: we have 5 games in January before the window shuts..

quite a good selection of games to assess him really..

I don't see why we need to bring him back its not like we are in a relegation scrap and we have Messi out on loan at WBA.

Just let him have a season loan there and if he is good enough he will be in or around the squad next season.

I don't see how a young lad who has had no Prem experience is all of a sudden going to solve our problems.

'ball retention'???   So why do we give it away so often? Our Pass completion stats, whilst better than in Shaky's 'hoof and hope' era, is still an aspect of our came that is crying out for improvement.

Not according to the stats, we have improved both our possession % and passing % under Puel, we are around 8th in league regarding possession and around 12th on pass%, the issue is we don't do enough with the possession.

                Possession %      Pass %

2018/19   50.0                     77.9

2017/18   48.3                     74.7

2016/17   43.7                     70.1

2015/16   44.7                     70.5

Not being funny get this kid back now.

Ship Gray or gazelle out on loan to get them game time and confidence.

Albrighton maddison Barnes

                   Vardy.

That would be lethal up top.

If this was a player that we was interested in and never heard of we would be licking our lips at this.

I suppose all those sideways and backwards passes skew the stats in terms of pass completions.  Statistics bloody marvellous things.

I never said that. We are some distance from being top 6, though not a million miles away.

But we’re all suggesting we halt his development this year on the chance he’s going to settle into premier league life, but won’t be much of an improvement?

Oh, so your saying that position is already taken, but the chap that plays there is not good enough...:)

What I’m saying is Barnes isn’t a safe bet because he’s doing ok in the championship lol

We are not in a position to buy players of that quality, firstly we do not seem willing to spend the money required and general they will not want to come to Leicester. We would need to be signing players of players like Hakim Ziyech from Ajax or Hirving Lozano from PSV, which is not going to happen. Our average net spend each season over the last 5 years is £25 million, the only top 6 clubs to have a net spend less than £45 million are Liverpool and Spurs, discounting Liverpool as they figures are effect by the sale of Coutinho. With that average spend going out and buying players is not a option for get in the top six, I would also argue that their ambition is long term not short term with that level of spending.

For me the model we should be looking at is Spurs, developing our own talent and spotting talent at lower levels and developing them over time.

Vardy, Mahrez and Kante weren't top six players when they arrived, all three developed to that level over time, for me we need to keep developing players and then keep them, by matching their ambition

I agree, spend aswell as develop.

To be a top side you need to be able to control the game via more possession, but you also need to have the players to create, looking at our normal midfield two, Ndidi and Mendy, 1 Goal and no assist between them, compare that to Neves and Moutinho 3 goals and 3 assists.

Correct, the biggest problem is we have spent good money on players who have not worked out, Slim £28m, Musa £18m, Silva £24m.

It’s their bloody inflated wages aswell, we’ll be suffering for it for a few years yet :(

I wouldn’t mind seeing nacho and Maddison somehow behind vardy, could that work? Nacho has openly said he prefers that role and has done well behind a striker before.

He reminds me a bit of Franz Carr.

if we play 3 CMs it should work! less defensive responsibility for the front 3 and allows the fullbacks to get some decent balls into them.

its  not rocket science  is it? i can’t for the life of me understand why we switched the formation last game. people will bang on about it being too defensive.. could of added someone a little more attacking minded for one of the DMs. Vardy tired? start shinji then or nacho man

Well he get shots away so could break down bus parkers. And he can play the wing and we're lacking there. And Puel has a (nearly?) unparalleled reputation with young players.

But if he comes here, sits on the bench when he could be practising at wba, and our fans boo him for skying shots, and not instantly becoming a prem level player, it will be a wasted half season of a youngsters career.

Also if you're also looking for a player who can in any way defend, or track back, you have the wrong player completely. He could and is, slowly, learning that at wba but can you imagine our fans giving him the time and space to improve that here?

"Oh look. They scored. In the 93rd minute. And Harvey should have been tracking their scorer. No worries, Harvey! You're young! And learning! It's only a game! You'll improve! And we're getting pissed anyway! All the best!"

Both can drift inside from wide position. There will be not much issues.

In 2014 German world cup team they even have 3 playmaker in am areas (oezil, goetze, and Kroos)
