MPH Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 For the first time this season, i am beginning to think it would be wise to bring Barnes back. but how would we accommodate him and Maddison? thoughts?
SheppyFox Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Is Barnes good enough to be a part of a top 6 starting 11?
StriderHiryu Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Pretty easy to accommodate him, he would play as the left sided forward in a 4231 whereas Maddison would keep his place as the 10 behind Vardy. Would be another option to go with Albrighton, Gray and Ghezzal. If we played 433 then you couldn't get them both in at the same time. All moot though as he's not coming back till next season.
MPH Posted 30 December 2018 Author Posted 30 December 2018 i really think we should stick with the 4-3-3 that served us so well against chelsea and Man city, but tweak the line up. id like to see maddison and Barnes either side of Vardy.. i’d like to see silva given one last roll of the dice in home games in the middle of N’didi and Mendy but get Hamza, who has a right to be disappointed in being dropped, back in for away games.

StanSP Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Schmeichel Pereira - Morgan - Maguire - Chilwell Ndidi - Mendy Albrighton/Gray - Maddison - Barnes Vardy
urban.spaceman Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Yes, definitely. In fact I believe that’s why we didn’t go with a major name winger and settled with Ghezzal; Barnes is back soon.
Sunbury Fox Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Or against defensive teams at home, I'd try: Schmeichel Pereira - Morgan - Maguire - Chilwell Ndidi - Maddison Albrighton/Gray - Nacho - Barnes Vardy
Nick Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Now this is a thread I can get behind! Love to hear some WB views on this in terms of his position and ability.
SheppyFox Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 4 minutes ago, MPH said: well, who else do we have that is? its either him or spend big money... I agree, I think Barnes has obvious potential to do well, but I’d think relying on that potential is an unnecessary gamble, better we buy quality aswell next year Barnes can have Grays spot I rekon ???
inckley fox Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 If we bring Barnes back we have to give him the sort of opportunity Ghezzal has enjoyed so far to make an impression. He'll need game time, which means less game time for the like of Ghezzal, Gray, Maddison. As for whether he and Maddison can be in the same team, that depends on the opposition and game plan. But I often ask myself if we can accommodate both Gray and Maddison in the same team, let alone adding Barnes to the equation. But should we bring him back? Yes, definitely, when a lack of creativity, quality in possession, tempo of play is so evident in our current midfield. If we were to sign a new player, the obvious positions would be striker (hard to justify when no striker we've played has thrived in the current system - working on improving our creativity has to come first, otherwise we'll simply add another player who's going to struggle to the squad and have to find him game-time), centre mid (we have a few still knocking around) or attacking mid. With that in mind, and considering Barnes has shown the same sort of pedigree at Brom as Maddison showed last year for Norwich, we'd be daft not to look at him. Which is a shame, because I thought it'd be great for him to stay where he is. Blame the likes of Gray and Ghezzal for not taking their chances, I suppose.
Spudulike Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 I don't think the club should allow him to be cup-tied next week.

lanefox Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Just now, foxfanazer said: Does he need to be? Last time I checked we weren't a top 6 side But you’d get the impression from some fans we should be and if not the season is a complete failure, but back on topic yes he can on the left like he hs for wba
fuchsntf Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 On yes... But I wouldn't bring Barnes back yet!!! Then over the summer, coaching staff can work with them.Trying to work on 1-3 formations, coming out with 2. Obviously we need as a squad to have the forwards, and other teammates who can match and mesh us into a workable group. our defence, even with 1-2 losses,is a good base,to work from.We can build-up from there branching/linking out towards Players .Maddison and Barnes..hoping at least Ndidi can help to start to realise their potential from DM,so we can push out on the front foot, With more quick-movement and pace????
Leicester_Loyal Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 I think long term, even though he would potentially help our season, it's best to leave Barnes at WBA for the remainder of the season, it will do him the world of good.

Fox92 Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 What good will bringing Barnes back do. He won't score in three games and people will be saying "not good enough for the PL". I can remember when he came back last season, played in the FA Cup and people starting writing him off.
mozartfox Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Does anybody know when is the latest point in time in January we can trigger the recall?

That's precisely what will happen. Pretty sure I saw Benkovic getting criticised by a few on here in the old firm derby the other day
NewquayFox Posted 30 December 2018 Posted 30 December 2018 Barnes will replace Maddison, in my honest opinion Maddison is good but not great...
