SouthStandUpperTier Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 I would have preferred to have Barnes play the full season at WBA. But with Ghezzal being total bobbins at the moment I can understand why Puel might recall him.
TheSomersetFox Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 The thought of having him, Chilwell and Hamza in the team is ****ing fantastic. I wanted him to be given the season at Baggies but surely he’d add some much needed creativity in our midfield. Maddison - Choudhury - Ndidi Barnes - Vardy - Albrighton that front 6 in a 4-3-3 looks alright on paper to me, Whether Maddison can play in the deeper role or not is another question however. Bring him back Claude
foxinsocks Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 Puel will start ghezzel before both of them. We need goals. .. but puel sees everything defensively...so he benches madison even though he can score from nothing. #puelout
RowlattsFox Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 Our league position means we can give Barnes a chance. Puel is clearly willing to give people opportunities and has backing from the board.
Mark Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 If he's returning he needs a proper chance in the position WBA have been using him, and not to judge him on one cup match and send back to the u23's like last time.
Superpants82 Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 Puels tried Ghezzal and Gray and they've been poor. Chillwell and Barnes on the left would be good to get working

The position? They have played him in three. No 10. LW, FWL.

cropstonfox Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 We dont have to accommodate them both.As long as they are in the matchday 15.They will both play a big part and improve individually whilst increasing our options.Get him back! Cushion the blow for baggies with Gray.

Think we are better to keep both for now, at least they are playing a part even if its small. Need to move on Benny, King and Silva first. No brainer bring him back with the form of Gray

sdb Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 Would've liked him to have had the full season there, but given Gray and Ghezzal's performances of late, Barnes will surely get a fair amount of game time.

Foxxed Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 We're not in a relegation battle, we need someone to break down bus parkers, we have a position for him, Puel has a great track record with youth players and he doesn't drop youngsters when their learning their trade. There are good arguments for recalling him. I hope Barnes transitions well and is supported.

Guest Posted 1 January 2019 Posted 1 January 2019 There is NO WAY they could both play in the same team. Maddison isn't a good defender and Barnes is far worse. Our team is built on defence and pressing we can't afford to carry players - we couldn't even do that for the last two seasons with Mahrez.

Unless we stick with the 433 that has 7 defensive outfield players, the front 3 really shouldn’t have to defend that much (but should press from the front), accommodating Barnes and Maddison in that 433 is harder than in the 4231 formation though, Barnes can play on the left hand side but I think Maddison will have to learn to play further out right

He definitely needs to improve his defending but that doesn't completely prevent him from playing. Put him on the left and tell Chilwell to curb his forays into the opposition half. Or put him on right with Simpson or Amartey behind him. Or play him when we are paying bus parkers where the need to defend is less. And since he's been playing as a striker he may well end up playing as a striker here.
