Was always strangely confident. Just shows how much of a miss Roy is for us. Couldn’t get anything going without him.
TheSomersetFox Posted 3 July 2019 Posted 3 July 2019 Roy is the dog’s bollocks. Get him in the test side. The English Sehwag

StanSP Posted 4 July 2019 Author Posted 4 July 2019 Anyone think Afghanistan might pull off their first victory today?!

Vacamion Posted 4 July 2019 Posted 4 July 2019 I was disappointed for them not quite finishing against India and Pakistan, and they have been a great part of the tournament, so I hope they can get a victory today.
ealingfox Posted 4 July 2019 Posted 4 July 2019 For all that guff that comes with him (Universe Boss ffs do me a favour) Chris Gayle has contributed sod all to this tournament.

Yep. Very disappointed in him. It's now at the stage where he's doing his team a disservice and probably holding them back. Time to get someone new in and perhaps a youngster that can be more productive.

Proved himself a good aggressive opener at Test level against England and would surely have been capable of doing a job either with Gayle or instead of him. They may have been massively disappointing and failed at crucial moments (having South Africa on the ropes before being rained off probably didn't help their chances either), but I think the West Indies do have the makings of a good squad for the future. As always though with Caribbean cricket, that could all come to nothing if politics and a lack of funding for internationals gets in the way (see Archer choosing England over them for the latest example of that).
AKCJ Posted 4 July 2019 Posted 4 July 2019 Shame to see the boss struggling like this but his time is up. Probably would have been better off coming in at 6 or something ala Buttler.
Vacamion Posted 4 July 2019 Posted 4 July 2019 The fact that Gayle was clowning along with ironic cheers of the crowd when he fielded the ball against the Aussies at Trent Bridge told me he will be packing it in sooner rather than later.
ScouseFox Posted 4 July 2019 Posted 4 July 2019 bloody gorgeous day. crickets a bit boring tho innit.

Did the same against India last week. Was fun for all of 2 minutes and may have saved a boundary but that was the most productive thing he did all day
StanSP Posted 4 July 2019 Author Posted 4 July 2019 Afghanistan well on course. 198 needed from 172...
StanSP Posted 4 July 2019 Author Posted 4 July 2019 Ikram about to break the record for highest score by youngest player. Tendulkar had it at 84 runs. Ikram's on 83...
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 4 July 2019 Posted 4 July 2019 England women lost again to the Aussies.

ScouseFox Posted 5 July 2019 Posted 5 July 2019 went today. decent game for about 80 overs but tbf pretty much as soon as that afghan partnership was done it was game over. had a decent go for half an innings tho. got sunburnt to shit and spent about a ton on pints and thats the real quiz.
David Guiza Posted 5 July 2019 Posted 5 July 2019 How do you approach this if you're Pakistan? Go for it like it's a 20/20 match and try and hit something ridiculous, like 400+ and then hope for a miracle of a collapse from Bangladesh? Or just go out their to play your normal game and win and finish on a high?

Finnegan Posted 5 July 2019 Posted 5 July 2019 Has there ever been a 316 run win in a world cup? Or in any ODI?

He's just looked like he couldn't give a toss on this wc.

As Finners says, give the fans a decent day out to enjoy as well.
