There'd be no reason to check - if he didn't go on with the ball and instead pulled up and stopped then it would just be a plain old offside, nothing for VAR to check as there's no 'other' outcome if he stopped

Vardy is currently on 141. His premier league debut was at age 27. 

 

Even if he'd started at 23 years old, he'd have had to have scored 30 goals in each of those extra seasons, to overtake Shearer...

Fully convinced he'll overtake Michael "Personality" Owen this season.


And on the day he does it he'll be sporting the Owen Handlebar™ and during the celebration, rip his shirt off to reveal an enormous chest tattoo that says "NOT A NATURAL FINISHER".

You have to factor in that Vardy has been struggling with an issue with his hip since 2020 which is arguably down to his age. That's almost half his top flight career where he's been in and out of the team and had to push through it when it was acting up. If he was 5 years younger and you put him in the exact same situation without any additional seasons he would probably have 50 extra PL goals alone since 2020, especially if you consider that we dont get relegated with a fit Vardy in the team.

Teddy Sheringham played for West Ham in the Premier League in his 40s. I’m praying Vardy does the same. I don’t care if his legs are gone by then—I want him in the dressing room! By hook or by crook, he needs to break into the top 10 over Michael Owen.

Maybe but there  is also the possibility  that Vardys still going strong at nearly 38 because he didn't enter pro football till he was 25 so hasn't got the mileage  in his legs of a typical  38 year old
