I think we should be grateful for Puel's prescence for the summer transfer window, with which he had at least some influence, particularly by bringing Ricardo to the club. I trust in Brendan to bring us through next season!

Yeh i agree, Puel brought us some good signings and cleared out some shit, just a shame he couldn't make it work on the pitch. Not very often will 4 of the top 6 be as poor as they have this season. Arsenal and United have been considerably worse than spurs and chelsea but neither of them have been great in the league either.

Can’t believe there are so many comments like this out there, how is it good for football that the team who spends over a billion pounds wins the league again and again?

I guess it must be about the nature of L'pool fans and TV pundits

It's great to see the level of optimism ahead to tonight's game, of course I live in hope over expectation on what we can achieve tonight, especially with recent improvements.

The realist in me says they'll smash us.  They have had a full week without distraction of CL to prepare for us and will be at it from the off all guns blazing.  This could easily be a Barca V Liverpool kind of game, where we play really well, but come away losing 3-0 and wonder how the hell that happened.

However, one of the delights of being a Leicester fan is that we are capable of pulling off the ridiculous so I am piling on 2-5 to the Foxes, with a Vardy Hat trick :scarf:

Indeed. Will refer people back to this thread in 5 years time when Man City have just won the league for the 7th year in a row.

Exactly. With the resources and infrastructure at Man City they are primed to get 90 - 100 points next season and the one after that and so on. Klopp's team have played some great football, they're entertaining to watch. Without Liverpool the PL would be like the SPL - at least until the others can catch up.

Liverpool have got some bellend fans of course, but no more so than anyone else (us included!)

Extra £5m if Man City win the league for Mahrez.... hmmmmm

Is that so? It's a win-win for us then. We win we can say we were the only ones to do the double over Man City, we have the chance to grab 7th. If we lose we get paid!

Liverpool fans will be insufferable if they win the league but Man City are terrible for the sport as a whole. Or more specifically their owners. Their strategy has been alarmingly good - they hired people from Barcelona to run the behind the scenes at the club and over time built a world class training academy and then got the best modern coach and backed him with players. The owners also have clubs on almost every continent. Their strategy is a long term one to have a huge brand presence worldwide and it’s working. The danger is it turns the Premiership into a one team league like France, Germany or Italy and that would suck. It’s says it all that two of the best youngsters in Europe in Jadon Sancho and Brahim Diaz left as they couldn’t get a game there. They are levels ahead of everyone else in infrastructure and they will be backed as their owners are backing on that brand being a huge money maker as oil countries run out of oil.

Guardiola is a fantastic coach and his team play wonderful football, but that club and regime is terrible for the sport.

I guess the one thing that could break it all up is Pep moving on. But then he does still have the Champions League to work towards, so that will probably be enough to keep him from getting itchy feet for a few more seasons yet.

Ultimately I want to live in a world where hard work pays off, and it's not just about how much money you have in the bank. I know Liverpool have been backed financially, but the overall quality of their squad is far less and if they do pull it off they will have done so by pushing their bodies to the absolute limit.

They are without KDB and Fernandinho, 2 key players, their fans will be cacking themselves. Their midfield and attacking force are awesome but their defence is a weak link which we can exploit.

My prediction is that within the first 10 minutes, Vincent Kompany will get caught napping and Vardy will skin him for pace. Kompany will then take him out completely as he's the last man and Vardy would have otherwise been clean through. Everyone on the planet will be in complete agreement that it's a stone cold red card.

...and he'll get a yellow.

Something very deja vu about that...

Once Pep moves on they will just go and hire whoever the next best manager is in the world at that moment in time. E.g. Erik Ten Hag (Ajax) or Julian Nagelsmann (Hoffenheim), or someone like that. They have a very good structure in place so even though Pep is doing a wonderful job, they aren't reliant on his brilliance to win them trophies. That's why they are here to stay.

One good thing about our club's strategy is we are doing similar things. E.g. if Rodgers left we'd still have a good young core of players, a world class training academy to keep producing them and good scouting to find decent talent for reasonable prices. This is why IMO we actually have an oustide shot to overhaul teams above us like Arsenal and Man United as currently those clubs are not being run very well and I think it will take them some time to get their houses in order.

I agree, I just mean there might be a slight dip at first, and it's likely that the next manager would have a different style of play which will take a while to embed. Things are really going in Man City's favour though. Of the teams that will play in the champions league, Liverpool are likely to be the only ones that will be able to strengthen. Chelsea have the transfer ban (and are  likely to lose Hazard) and seeing Spurs haven't been investing at all in players, I can't see that really changing drastically into next season. Apparently Arsenal only are going to have something like £40m for players, and whilst Man U can no doubt find significantly more, they really aren't an attractive proposition right now with the player dynamics and a manager who doesn't have the expertise needed to really develop top level players.

I really fancy us to get a draw tonight though. We match up well against them, and they are bound to be tense.

Well it’s 16-1 for the win and over 8-1 for a draw so a tenner with a £2 cover bet has gone on! I think we’ll be up for this more than they realise. If they lose tonight I think they’ll capitulate and Watford will have their pants down in the FA Cup as well.

Has Sean from Enderby released the team yet?

Can't really bring myself to say I want us to lose but I hope Man City win the title.

I spent 3 years in Liverpool and loved it but the last thing that fanbase needs is a premier league title.

Anyone who thinks Man Utd aren't an attractive proposition to a huge number of players is living in cloud cuckoo land. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world. The prestige for your career of playing for them is enormous. They also pay big wages.

Clubs like us will be under enormous agent pressure this summer as the so-called big 6 look to add to their squads. Clubs of our stature have several players any of them might want and if they come calling with serious money will probably not be able to resist.

On tonight's game there is a huge amount of press hype about the possibility of an upset but they have had a whole week to prepare and of go there and open up they will rip us apart.

At least if we do lose it is less likely Liverpool will win the title.

The bin dippers have been going on about us dropping points  for weeks!! First palace away then spurs at home followed by the scum away then Burnley away.   and how many points did we drop none. We have been there before when the pressure is on we seem to get even better and stronger. 12 games unbeaten we won’t let it slip now??? 3-1 tonight followed by 4 at Brighton cant see any other result to be honest.

got no issues with that personally, they’re the best team the world has ever had the pleasure of watching.

they’re inoffensive and their best player is a 24 year old englishman who has been abused by fans and press alike since he was 15.

i really like man city. couldn’t care less where their good players or good football came from, i’m not a business man i’m a football fan. and they play sensational football.

What another quality moment for Leicester to be in the spotlight, the football God's can't get enough of us.

I'm as positive as the next positive bod that wants Leicester to win, but in reality I can't see it.

Bottome line for me is, they need it 100%, we don't.

They've had a really nice preparation time for this and will be truly psyched and organised to within an inch of their tactical minds.

We'll be up for it and will truly push a strong game, but in reality, what's up for grabs for us? 7th place?....zzzzzzzzz.....nowt in reality.

Still, it's brilliant excitement.

Of course loads of players will want to go there, and good ones at that. We are talking about elite players who can compete with Man City for the title, who are going to want to play with a team of world-class players, to learn from a coach who knows what they are doing at the top level and ultimately to win big trophies. You could say 'oh it will be ironed out in a season or two', but they have been going round in circles for years now. Why would you sign up for three years of your career if you have counter offers from other top European sides who are already succeeding? No doubt they will make big money signings, but will they really be good enough to push Pep's team when they will likely have first dips on whoever is going. I guess time we will see over the next couple of years.

strangely that adage has fallen apart last few weeks .... I can’t recall that generally reliable rule of thumb being so unreliable as in the past couple weeks

you would have to think think that Man City players will be so totally committed for the whole 90 mins that we surely can’t get anything.

Lots of eyes on this tonight. Great platform to advertise ourselves, showcase our bright young things and lure future signings.

Plus I know one Man City fan who will be frothing for 90mins. I'd love Jamie to wipe his smug smile away!!

It always used to be Man U who picked up the fickle 'tourist' fans. When did that change around?
