Someone accidentally brushed against him as he was talking to Mrs Vardy tonight and he turned round to them and just said in a raised voice "Don't ****ing touch me!" Before turning back round to carry on his conversation.
TheSomersetFox Posted 7 May 2019 Posted 7 May 2019 I wanted Vards to finally get one but Ricardo’s fully deserved that. Awesome player, easily one of the most underrated in the division

foxfanazer Posted 8 May 2019 Posted 8 May 2019 Imagine if Vardy goes his whole Leicester career without winning player of the season. Madness considering he's imo our best ever
Tanya Posted 8 May 2019 Posted 8 May 2019 Ricky P has been so good this season. One our best signings of the past two years (I think Claude's signings have been, on the whole, quite good so fair play to him too)
Wizerud Posted 8 May 2019 Posted 8 May 2019 Ricardo thoroughly deserves it. You need look no further than yesterday’s game. He did everything, superbly, maybe his best game of the season defensively. I’d have taken Chilwell over Madders for the YPOTY simply because he’s been consistently good all year long unlike Madders who was great at the start of the season and at the end but had quite a few mediocre games in the middle third. No complaints tho, overall he’s had a good season.

Jaspa Posted 8 May 2019 Posted 8 May 2019 What a player Ricky is. Fully deserved. He found the step up tough initially but put the effort in to get up to par and has stayed consistent for nigh on 30 games now. Ontop of that he's a superb player and a consummate professional. Really hope we can have him for another couple of seasons at least. You'd say Chilly would probably shade YPotY given his England breakthrough and his consistency in comparison to Maddison but since Brendan has come in Madders has uped the ante and has been showing real skill most weeks - a very unique player we have on our hands who has had a tough first season but it's finishing brightly. So fair enough
foxfanazer Posted 8 May 2019 Posted 8 May 2019 Yeah definitely Chilwell for YPOTY. If Tielemans had played 5 more games be would've got it I reckon
Nod.E Posted 8 May 2019 Posted 8 May 2019 To think he was falling out of favour before Amartey's injury. Stunning second half of the season from Ricky. Looking at the top 6 he'd slot straight into Spurs, United, Chelsea and Arsenal. He's that good. Trippier - Out of form Young - Just horrible at football Azpilicueta - Legs going Lichtsteiner - No words needed

I don't think he ever fell out of favour? He was just being put in RW fairly frequently at the start while he got to grips with the league defensively.

If it was Rodgers, taking him out of the firing line after a few rough games would be called "great management".

Jordan Posted 8 May 2019 Posted 8 May 2019 Count me in as one of those that worried about his defensive and physical play at the beginning of the season... but also count me as one of those that ought to be feeling a little embarrassed that I’d ever doubted him! He’s fantastic—a true all-around player. The modern right back has to handle a huge workload from goal line to goal line, but our happy warrior takes on the challenge with a smile. With the positive attitude and good spirits he seems to always carry, it’s no wonder his teammates gave him the Player of the Year accolade, too. And best of all, he’s signed through 2023!

Beat me to it. Maguire had a great debut season, but was nowhere near as important as Vardy last year.

I suppose we'll never know, but I got the impression Amartey was preferred at right back and, with the problems we still have on the wing, Pereira was being deployed more and more often as a winger. Not a dig at Puel in the slightest, it was understandable given some of his early defensive difficulties, Amartey's form and Demarai Gray's lack of it. Just amazing how Pereira has taken that early uncertainty on the chin and absolutely got that right back position locked down.
LCCFox96 Posted 9 May 2019 Posted 9 May 2019 Ricardo deserves it. He had a nervy few games early on but you could see what he was about and the raw talent. His application and hard work was evident. He got a lot stronger and more intelligent both on the ball and in his positioning. Combine that with his unreal dribbling ability and explosive power and he's become one of the best right backs in the league, if not Europe.
