They brought loads of fans and had half the kop, and were 2-0 up by half-time. Paul Ramsey came on at half-time and scored twice to make it 2-2 before Strachan seemed to have won it for them with a very cheeky penalty. Then Paul Moran scrambled one in before Gary McAllister swept home right at the end. Sheer pandemonium. That was one of the most bizarre penalties I've ever seen. Strachan walked up, bent down and pretended to re-spot the ball, then with his fingers about an inch from the ball jabbed out a leg and toe-poked it into the corner of the net. Can't believe it's 30 years ago.

Thirty years later, I am finally prepared to accept that it was both perfectly legal and very clever. I'm getting old.

That's the game that I first thought of when I saw the thread, Venus's only goal for us & what a cracker! He took some stick during his time, but i'll always remember that goal.

I hadn't called myself a Leicester fan yet but I'd fallen completely in love with the side during the title winning season and had watched religiously ever since. Things were beyond terrible that season and it seemed like everything was going wrong. That game was just insane, Vardy sent off. More players than I could even count on yellow cards, us down 2-0 and Vardy at half-time and Kasper having to restrain Claudio Ranieri of all people from screaming at the referee. There was absolutely no reason why that game shouldn't have been a disaster of ****ing epic proportions yet out of nowhere Ulloa scored. The game wasn't quite a disaster after that but you still never thought in a million years we were going to come back. Then Amartey scored that header from a Fuchs cross with only a few minutes to spare and the amount of passion I felt through a computer screen half a world away in Australia was crazy. Against all odds with absolutely everything wrong the Fearless Foxes spirit had come alive and the last few minutes if anything, we were going to score again. Proudly called myself a Leicester fan since. And I can't find the photo right now but there is a beautiful shot of Amartey hugging Ulloa and them both near tears. The passion and love for the game is what makes this game the worlds game and as obscure a choice as it is, this games one of my favourites of all time because it made me call myself a Fox. I'm glad it ignited your love of the club. It ignited my hatred intense dislike of Craig Pawson. (probably says a lot about both of us)

I remember Mark Venus lashing in the winner. The following year we came back from 3-0 to 3-3 against the same opposition. Just goes to show how important momentum is in football and sport generally. I was thinking this. Didn't go to the 1st one for some reason that I can't remember. The 3-3 was decent ?

The one and only game I've ever left early Still remember clear as day looking at the scoreboard saying 83 minutes: Leicester 0 - 2 Fulham and saying to my mate 'fvck this' and we both walked out. Got 200 yds down the road and heard the massive roar of Marshies goal so we dived into the Half Time Orange just in time to see Walshie then equalize. Stayed in there to see extra time and win on pens and went mental/got pissed

Great week all round. Never a red card in a million years, so glad we took something from the game. Daniel Amartey what a hero

Always disliked Strachan since and glad when things go belly up for him. My son, now 40 this week, was only talking about that match last week as one of his favourite games growing up.

Liverpool fans: "Remember that time we overcame all the odds to beat Barcelona 4-0 to reach the Champions League final?" Spurs fans: "Remember that time we battered Ajax in 45 minutes to beat all the odds to reach the Champions League final?" Man Utd fans: "Remember that time we beat PSG against all the odds to get to the Champions League quarter finals?" Leicester fans: "Remember that time we came back from 2-1 down against Swindon Town in the Milk Cup to make it 2-2? Fair enough Swindon won it in injury time but I'd already left the stadium by that point so it doesn't count"

Where as the United and Liverpool fans only ever watch their team on TV.
VLC86 Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 Clearly nothing like most of them names in here but 2-0 down away to stoke with 10 men, 8 of which were on Yellows and Ranieri wanting to scrap with Pawson at HT then drawing 2-2 was class.

Shout- absolute bedlam when Amartey scored Definitely in my top 3 moments that season with Bruges away and Sevilla at home.

sharpylcfc Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 Us coming back beating United 5-3 is the best for me.

Guest Col city fan Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 For those of us old enough to remember, the come back against Swindon in the play off final was the most incredible I’ve seen as a City fan. 3-0 down at half time, only to bring it back to 3 all, and then to lose to a dodgy penno. I’ve never experienced such a rollercoaster of emotions in a single game. From complete elation to utter dejection. The first and only time I’ve ever cried at a game.
HighPeakFox Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 Are there loads of mentions of the Swindon play-off because it has so etched itself on our collective psyche, or because people don't read the entire thread?
l444ry Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 Notice that the Swindon comeback has rightly been mentioned several times but I defy anyone that was at that game to watch this again and deny those hairs on the back of the head aren't standing when Thommo gets that equaliser..
rico Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 Iwan Roberts debut v Wolves at Filbert Street, 2 nil down at half time ,Roberts scored 2 in the second half to get it back to 2-2 and then missed a sitter for his hat trick..
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 Yes loved that Wolves game with Roberts. In the days before the internet and endless football on TV I had no idea who he was when we signed him, 90 minutes later he was my new hero.

My earliest memory of being at a football match is my dad lifting me up like Simba when Thompson scores only for my mum to bollock him for it . Either that or him dragging me to Bristol Rovers away to stand on a roofless terrace getting piss wet through watching a 0-0 but I don’t know which cams first. Google tells me Bristol was first.
