No wonder he went off the boil during his latter days for us. At least the bank has reimbursed him, thankfully.

Imagine him in our side now! A lot of ex players talk so highly of him which sums it up. He scored some great goals that season, 03/04, too.

I'm not sure about number of assists but I do know Roy Keane got in the team of the season, and got relegated in the same season, when he was at Forest which is pretty incredible.

The more closely you look back the more you realise what an incredible player Izzet was. I agree that he would get into our current team and raise it to another level.  I will never forget his performance v Athletico where he sliced them apart and should have had at least 3 nailed-on penos. Was it that same season when he scored from a pen at OT only to find it then disallowed, and missed the retake? Anyone thinking the awful standard of refereeing is something new needs to look at some of the decisions that went against us during that season.

Ken Leek played for us 1958-1961.

Only just found out his grandson is the Newcastle keeper Karl Darlow.

Didn't he go to Newcastle when he left us?

They blamed Wellens

He's only been there since November and won the Papa John's Trophy last week (although the Final was the only round he took charge of).

Seems Salford are just going to keep chucking money at it until they get promoted.

Quite funny that Gary Neville is now being named a hypocrite after this was dug up on twitter

Darlow needs to be asked for an explanation of why Leek was withdrawn from that cup final.  How else are we likely to find out?

Great move for him, hope he does well.

Who next?

Andy King not getting much game time at Leuven...

Morgan, Fuchs out of contract in summer...

Andy kings career feel of a cliff prematurely menu years ago. He wasn't injured but became ineffective overnight. Real shame because he started off so well I thought he was going to become the next lampard.

Simmo's joined up with Nige.

So sad seeing the comments. The bloke ****ed up, and he was rightly derided at the time, but he's done his licks and atoned properly.

I hope they warm to him like we did. He earnt some redemption and that's credible

His career fell of a cliff prematurely? Bloody hell I wish my footballing career nosedived like Kingys did - 3 league titles and 50 international caps, poor chap.

Appearances made during the 3 title wins 45, 30 and 25. Regarded by many as a Leicester city legend, certainly with iconic status. Experienced being at rangers although hardly played and now got a cushty year working in Belgium. Nice.

Come on now he hardly fell off a cliff.

How the 19 Leicester City players sold by Brendan Rodgers are faring at their new clubs
Leicester City have said goodbye to club icons, England internationals, title-winners, and more during Brendan Rodgers' two years in charge at the King Power Stadium

Here is how 19 of those players have fared since heading through the exit at the King Power Stadium.

Shinji Okazaki

After his release by City, he signed for Malaga, only to be let go a few weeks later when the cash-strapped club realised they could not pay him.

Okazaki joined their divisional rivals Huesca, finishing as their top scorer with 12 goals as they clinched the title in the Spanish second tier.

Life in La Liga has been tough, though, with Huesca bottom of the table, four points from safety. Okazaki has scored just once, and has not been able to fulfil his hope of returning to the Japan squad.

Danny Simpson

Dropping down to the Championship, Simpson helped settle a Huddersfield side stuttering in the bottom half of the division.

However, he left the Terriers before the Project Restart fixtures began last summer, and played for City’s Under-23s while he searched for a new club, eventually finding a new home at Bristol City this month, where he is working under Nigel Pearson again.

Harry Maguire

While he has perhaps not lived up to his title as the world’s most expensive defender, he has played pretty much every game for Manchester United, taking the armband after Ashley Young’s exit, and helping them to qualify for the Champions League last year.

He does not yet have any silverware to show for his time at Old Trafford though, United knocked out of the FA Cup by City last weekend, but he is still a mainstay in the England squad.

Elliott Moore

He was a regular in pre-season games and captained City’s Under-23s, but Moore never received a senior appearance for his hometown club.

He is enjoying a fine start to a potentially long career though, slowly establishing himself as a key player at League One side Oxford United, earning the captaincy earlier this season and leading them to the fringes of the play-offs.

Callum Elder

The Australian left-back was highly respected for his professionalism as he came through the ranks at the club but he too could never quite earn a first-team run-out.

After suffering relegation from the Championship with Hull, he’s now helping them in their bid to return to the second tier, registering eight assists from left-back with the Tigers currently top of the League One table.

Alex Pascanu

He left City to join European regulars Cluj in Romania, his country of birth, but has only played five times for the club, and was loaned out to divisional rival Voluntari last season.

This year, the defender is on loan at Spanish second division side Ponferradina and is playing regularly. He’s still impressing internationally too, and scored a late winner for Romania Under-21s over Hungary at the European Under-21 Championships at the weekend. Unfortunately, Pascanu and his team-mates missed out on the knockout stages on goal difference.

Lamine Kaba Sherif

A regular for City’s Under-23s, Sherif joined Accrington Stanley in League One, playing a bit-part role last season and having missed all of the current campaign so far through injury.

Ryan Bennett

The loanee was called up amid an injury crisis at the end of last season and did not help City stop the rot as they tumbled out of the top four.

He promptly returned to Wolves where he was allowed to leave for Championship side Swansea, who he nearly joined at the start of his career when Rodgers was in charge at the Liberty Stadium. This term, he’s been a regular as the Swans push for a Premier League return.

Calvin Bassey

Previously known as Calvin Ughelumba, the left-back’s decision to turn down a new contract and move north has paid off, Bassey winning the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers.

He’s been a back-up for most of the season though, and has now been hit with a six-game ban for breaking Covid-19 rules in February.

Viktor Johansson

Always impressive between the sticks for City’s development squad, Johansson returned to Sweden without a club last summer before he was offered a trial by Rotherham.

He impressed, earned a contract, and then took his chance, recently usurping Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman as the club’s number one. He has conceded just 13 goals in 13 games in the Championship, which is not too shabby for a relegation battler.

Ryan Loft

The target man signed from Spurs could never find the net with any regularity for City’s Under-23s, but has scored eight and registered five assists for League Two side Scunthorpe this term.

George Thomas

Snapped up by QPR after his release by City, Thomas has had to be patient with the Championship club. He has made just one start, back in September, and has mostly been an unused substitute since then with the West London club recovering from a poor start to sit in mid-table.

Andy King

A club hero for more than a decade, King finally said a permanent goodbye last summer as he reached the end of his contract, but he still has ties to City after joining sister side OH Leuven in Belgium.

He made his debut in January with 18 minutes off the bench against Gent, but has not played since.

Bartosz Kapustka

Having failed to live up to the hype that followed his performances for Poland at Euro 2016, Kapustka finally returned to his homeland in a bid to restart his career, joining reigning champions Legia Warsaw.

And it seems like he may finally be hitting his stride again, with two goals and three assists in his last five games taking Legia back to the top of the table as they bid to retain their crown.

Ben Chilwell

Despite scoring on his Premier League debut for Chelsea, it has not been smooth sailing for Chilwell at Stamford Bridge, particularly since Frank Lampard got the boot.

During Thomas Tuchel’s 15 games in charge, Chilwell has started just six, with Marcos Alonso coming back into the fold. Still, the City academy graduate remains an England regular and is still in the running for two trophies with Chelsea preparing for the Champions League quarter-finals and FA Cup semi-finals.

Fousseni Diabate

Sold to Trabzonspor last summer, Diabate was not getting much of a look-in, so was loaned out to Turkish Super Lig rivals Goztepe in January.

There, he has been afforded more game-time, and is making use of it, the winger scoring twice and setting up two more goals in his last six appearances.

Adrien Silva

Silva’s City nightmare was finally brought to an end last summer, but not with a permanent move to Monaco, despite impressing over 18 months on loan at the principality club.

Instead, he joined Claudio Ranieri at Sampdoria, and has racked up 20 appearances for the Serie A outfit, just one off his City total. They sit mid-table with 10 games to play.

Islam Slimani

Slimani found himself back in the fold very briefly when he made his first City appearance in more than 1,000 days as a substitute back in October, but with six months remaining on the contract he signed when he first arrived as club’s record signing in 2016, he departed for good in January, joining Lyon.

There, he is in a title race. The Algerian scored his first Ligue 1 goal for his new club last weekend as they were defeated 4-2 by PSG, a result that left Lyon three points behind Neymar and co. in a tighter-than-expected battle at the top in France.

Demarai Gray

A left-field move for Gray looked to be paying off immediately when he scored on his Bayer Leverkusen debut and followed that up with assists in his next two outings.

Those impressive cameos have led to four straight starts for Gray for the Champions-League chasing Bundesliga club, but with results going the wrong way, their manager Peter Bosz has now left.

The Europa League campaign ended in disappointment too, Gray featuring as Leverkusen were knocked out by Young Boys in the round of 32.

The winger will hope he continues to get chances to impress under caretaker boss Hannes Wolf.
