Collymore Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 I met him after the Watford away game last season with my son. We waited outside for about 2 hours and he was patient and kind even though we had just lost. A lot of the first team squad let us down which was massively disappointing but special mention to Fuchs, Vardy, Teilimans, Simpson and Evans who were lovely.

It also sends the message - ‘get injured and you’re out’ Chilwell has done enough to cement his place at left back…. Granted his first couple of games were a little pedestrian I love Fuchs and can simply celebrate the fact we have top drawer cover whilst Chilwell is out…. He’s been fantastic I don't agree with that. If anything I believe it shows that if you get a chance (however it may come about) and take it with both hands then you firmly deserve to keep your place in the team until your own performance drops below the desired level. He has come into the team and defensively been solid. Then going forward he provides us with more of a threat than Chilwell does.

He's stepped up brilliantly these past few games, especially given his lack of game time for a long time now. While deservedly behind Chilwell, I still think he's better offensively than Chilwell is; Ben could learn a lot from how Fuchs whips a cross in. That goal saving tackle on Kante was class too. Yes, his legs are going, but what a pro and a character. I've enjoyed seeing him get back in the side. City legend. I object to he deserves to be behind Chilwell, he really doesn't. Chilwell is nowhere near the level of Fuchs, in many ways it would suit us for him to be out for a bit longer to prove this further.
Farrington fox Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Will be tough on Fuchs should Chilly walk straight back in. It seem like Fuchs has been here for ever, such has been his professionalism. He’s been a great player.

As i said he has covered well, but to suggest Chilwell isnt far ahead based on those 2 games is slightly shortsighted Nobody is saying that. Pretty obvious Chilwell is our best option at left back by a country mile.
treer Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 It wont upset Fuchs, when Chilly returns, that is his job to stand in for him. He has done brilliantly, what a squad is all about.

I love Fuchs but before he was dropped he was getting skinned week in week out. The old classic Foxestalk thought process that a player becomes considerably better/worse when he’s out injured.

All I can say is Chilwell started last season very well and then nosedived around Christmas, his form in 2019 for his club has been fairly poor but the hype around him due to some solid displays for England has meant he's not really come in for much criticism. Fuchs in these past 2 games has highlighted just how poor he's been though, for a supposed attacking full back he's made Chilwell look like he's got webbed feet in comparison. Hopefully this will encourage an improvement out of Chilwell when he returns because Fuchs may no longer just be seen as a mere back up to make up the numbers and rightly so.
adejo92 Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Absolutely brilliant bloke and true professional. I know someone who used to deliver his post and he would always invite them in and be friendly and humble. I've also seen him myself out and about and he was very friendly and had all the time in the world for fans.

dyanmark Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 I for one would like to see Fuchs continue .If nothing else Saturday showed why he is an upgrade on Chilwell with solid defence the cross for 2nd goal. and a good free kick effort. Defender first but decent in attack and 4 points from 2 away games. Folk love Chilwell like Harry due to the running out and taking on players easy on the eye when one incisive pass would do the job. Chilwell is totally one footed cannot cross reliably and still has a way to go.Havent heard too many moaning about Harry leaving since Caglar stepping in and doing a job.

Fuchs should keep his place on the basis of his last two performances.. Better defender than Chilwell all day long.
st albans fox Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 when chilly is fit he comes back in then we can make a proper judgement on Saturday, Howe will have a decision to make on which side of our defence he targets ......... let’s see what he decides to do assuming chilly still isn’t fit ..
Swiss_tony Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 chilwell - quick, but is often caught out of position when there's a turnover, and really, for an attacking full back his end product is pretty low quality most of the time. He'll get better, but he needs to be a better defender, that's his #1 job. fuchs - reads the game much better, better defensive positioning, and puts quality crosses in but gets done for pace because he's getting on. The case against is, occasionally he has games like Newport, where he looked like a pub player. youth is the future but chilwell needs improve his positional sense, and cross the ball to a blue shirt more than 50% of the time. as somebody else said, if you could attach fuchs left foot to chilwell and swap brains, you'd have a hell of a left back.

If your replacement doesn't perform then you're straight back in the team. Fuchs has offered more than Chilwell for me since he's come in. He keeps the shirt until he deserves dropping

dyanmark Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 Hell we have some agreement . Chilwell and Maguire look very good everyone loves the player who runs out and attacks but lot to be said for a solid experienced player.
murphy Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 I'm pleased for Fuchs that he is getting some first team action and he has certainly not let us down, but I think that the market can tell us who is better, him or Chilwell. If we were going to sell Chilwell we'd be expecting about £70m I would've thought. Fuchs came on a free and that was superb business for us, but how much would a young or peak Fuchs be worth today? I think, less than half of Chilwell's fee.

Chilwell starts Has pace and will take a player on down the outside and can be great at transitioning play into the attaching third... i addition he’s rock solid at the back… Love Fuchs just as much!

Bossman Blessed It Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 I don't necessarily think Fuchs signed to stay on for one more year here thinking that he would be in the squad to keep Chilwell out the team. He's a model professional in the way he's stepped in and used his experience to see us through, however I fully expect Chilwell to come back in once fit. Bare in mind, Chilwell wasn't dropped, he got injured.
Deeg67 Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 Hard to believe there's this much debate over a total non-issue. When he's healthy Chilwell will start. He should start. Fuchs expects him to start. It's really not that complicated.
