I'd be more than happy to see Fuchs get a new deal, regardless of Chilwell's situtation come the summer. If Chilwell stays, Fuchs has proven himself to be more than reliable back-up in the league and a great rotation option in the cup - we've won 5 and drawn 1 league game that he's played in and are in the cup-semi final which is fantastic.

If Chilwell goes, you would presume we will bring in another left back, so Fuchs covering that player and being on standby incase that signing doesn't work out makes perfect sense. Players of Fuchs' quality who are happy to play a squad role are very hard to come by.

If not for the title winning run and the great culture he has helped develop within the squad, he would have pis*ed off ages ago. Players of his calibre do not sit on the bench. Also, a bigger head - like Drinkwater, Kante or Mahrez - would have left too. Fuchs is amazing and should be made to stay as long as possible and be given a role after retirement to help maintain the rare culture of unity we have within the club. Him, Vardy, Morgan, Kasper and Albrighton should be given coaching or other roles after they hang their boots. As we have seen with many other clubs - Everton and West Ham being the latest - spending money does not equate to success. Culture is very important and we must remember therefore the key roles that these senior players play and not treat them as disposables thinking we can easily replace them. That would be a mistake. Ask also of Man U - they destroyed their great culture a few seasons ago with the expensive chop and change they did - the result is that they ended up with a bunch of expensive mercenaries who whinge and whine the moment they are not picked etc.

I agree which is why I said I'd be happy to see him get a new deal. A player of Fuchs' quality who is happy to be within the role Fuchs plays and offers what Fuchs does to the dressing room wouldn't just be hard to replace, it would be almost impossible.

Could easily see him stepping into a club ambassadorial role upon retirement too like you say.

Sign him up for another year.

His body might not last much longer, but still oozes quality. His passing ability and reading of the game is still fantastic.

Clearly an intelligent bloke and a seems like a great character to have around the dressing room.

Invaluable for when Chilwell has those spells when he forgets how to football.

At the end, when the crowd were giving him stick for delaying the throw in, others might have lost the head.

He gave a smile, and got on with it.

Great performance today.

He, like Kasper, Wes and Marc is a proper bloke.  Great to have around the squad.

Brilliant player and even better professional. The longer he sticks around the better Chilwell will become imo, can’t think of many better people to learn from.

Plus it gave him the chance to have a few words with the crowd, thus wasting a few more precious seconds ...

Top class today.

Incredible to think just before Brendan got here he was all but done with us. And now he is an essential member of the squad.  Total pro.

Unusual as it is for me to criticise our former manager, Puel for all his "transitioning" stuff was totally unable to man-manage, including those who he wanted out (Okazaki, Simpson, King, Fuchs etc). Rodgers came in, put an arm around everyone and changed the dynamic of the place. Even if players are not in the plans, it's important to manage them well. King went in two footed on Puel in The Times - particularly notable because he's not one to rock boats. It's fair to say Fuchs held similar views. He's such a great pro and would love him to stay around, he's important to the dressing room too.

I’d try and persuade him to take a 1-2 year extension. Get a young left back in to learn from him.

Chilwell is gonna be gone sooner or later so we may as well try and get 60m plus for him and keep Fuchs.

if we lose both Chilly and Fuchs the same summer we would be seriously ****ed

Not mentioned him for ages but it's relevant in the case of Fuchs.

We seem to do well with left backs recently: Fuchs, Berner, konchesky, chilwell to a point.

Fuchs has been a great servant to our club and he still has so much to offer. His experience, expertise in defending against all types of wingers has been a pleasure to watch. Mahrez ripped Chilwell apart, when he came up against Fuchs previously he had no joy at all. That is how good he is! Be a sad day when Fuchs is no longer a Leicester City player. Legend in my eyes!!

I'll forgive you this Geoff, as it seems entirely accurate. (apart from your opening line, which I know is intended as self-deprecating, but it's actually provocative)

Genuinely still good enough to be a regular. His composure is probably the best in the entire squad in tight areas. Can pick a great pass, his ball control is brilliant, he may have lost a yard of pace and his positioning can be questioned on occasion, but what a football player. His decision making is far better than most full backs in the entire Premier league. Honestly I think he's brilliant.

Definitely one of my favourite players.... and he has a long throw in ....One more years contract please, but don’t tell his wife.

It’s harsh to say ‘Chilwell to a point’ when he’s young and still already better than the others (bar Fuchs). It’s just that we expect so much more these days. Had we had Chilwell in the Championship sides he’d have been one of our best players.

His family live in NY. He may want to his kids grow up.  I doubt he will want to be here another year.
