One of our best signings over the past decade in my opinion. Got him for a pittance and he's provided so much to our club. Legend! Threat? Last night? Newcastle?

Chilwell - second most backward passes in the EPL: https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/backward_pass The most is Willian, but he is a forward so naturally more of his passes are backwards, whereas Chilwell is a defender and he should be making a lot more forward passes. He plays more as a wing-back and in most scenarios he is in the final third, Ricardo is up there with pass backs... does that make him a bad defender?
majaco Posted 2 January 2020 Posted 2 January 2020 Fans should back our excellent players. You have produced a stat about a player who has just been part of a 3-0 away win. Fuchs is fantastic. Chilwell may never reach the level of Fuchs 2016 but is still a brilliant player for us. Presumably, you'll now be off to slag off another player in another thread.
The boy Linacre Posted 2 January 2020 Posted 2 January 2020 Yep special player, saw his 1st game vs West Ham league cup game in 2015 and he has been great ever since. The word that really describes him is intelligent and he's still doing it now, noticed even this season blocks so many crosses, something Ben doesn't do much of, so the ball doesn't even come in. A Leicester title great, and a great character at the club, Fuchs and Okazaki, ear flicking!!!
ForeverandEver Posted 2 January 2020 Posted 2 January 2020 Fuching love his “no-look” football passes.

sdb Posted 2 January 2020 Posted 2 January 2020 Easily got another year in him. Hope Brendan can twist his arm again.
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 2 January 2020 Posted 2 January 2020 but........according to this forum hes to old and his legs have gone. he is by far the best left back ive seen in a city shirt since the 60s.... bar none

I have no doubt Chilwell will get better as time progresses, in particular with regards to his defensive game. Fuchs was dangling around in Germany, a few years at a pretty drab club such as Bochum, then before making it at Schalke, a loan spell at Mainz (another grey mouse at the time). That reads rather unspectacular to me. Morale of the story: Don't write people off so quickly.
StanSP Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 Refreshing to hear and I know many of us probably think it anyway regarding their influence off the pitch. They're a shining light and great role-model material to youngsters and those coming in to the club either from academy level or from different clubs. Same with players like Schmeichel and Vardy who've been here for several years here as well. They still have that winning mentality and will be professional when they're asked to do a job despite not being first choice any more.

Rodgers deserves a massive amount of credit for this. When you have some 'transition' you need the ability to keep lots of people happy. Rodgers came in and immediately worked on the many disaffected players, especially the more established ones. He's an excellent man manager.

Reckon he will still be a quality player next year, but even if age catches up to him we have Justin who can cover both RB/LB so Fuchs will be a last resort option. If we qualify for the champions league we would need someone with his experience and mindset. he can still do a job for us. I am sure the club will talk to him before the summer. The guy is a legend and can stay for ever for me

Grebfromgrebland Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 With our new way of playing our players need less energy especially against so called lesser teams. Keeping the ball means it's the opposition that has to do all the chasing and we can extend our older players careers.
FLAN Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 My son played at one his his academy tournaments today. Didn’t think he’d turn up tbf but he was there a good few hours. Standing about happy to mess about with the kids. Great attitude and role model
bart Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 Legs have gone...are we still talking about Fuchs? Looked absolutely fine every game I've seen this season

Lesta2014 Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 Remember next year we may well have champions league football, fuchs and Wes have that experience which could be invaluable to players like soyuncu/chilwell in their position on how to prepare/recover/enjoy the extra games! I also think with fuchs/we’d not playing as regularly they are fresh and therefore fit enough to play the odd game without much difficulty! Love them both and hope we give them both another year!
LCCFox96 Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 I'd be more than happy to see Fuchs get a new deal, regardless of Chilwell's situtation come the summer. If Chilwell stays, Fuchs has proven himself to be more than reliable back-up in the league and a great rotation option in the cup - we've won 5 and drawn 1 league game that he's played in and are in the cup-semi final which is fantastic. If Chilwell goes, you would presume we will bring in another left back, so Fuchs covering that player and being on standby incase that signing doesn't work out makes perfect sense. Players of Fuchs' quality who are happy to play a squad role are very hard to come by.
