DennisNedry Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Love this man. He's stepped up brilliantly these past few games, especially given his lack of game time for a long time now. While deservedly behind Chilwell, I still think he's better offensively than Chilwell is; Ben could learn a lot from how Fuchs whips a cross in. That goal saving tackle on Kante was class too. Yes, his legs are going, but what a pro and a character. I've enjoyed seeing him get back in the side. City legend.
ithuriel Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Was supposed to have retired after the title winning season but still keeps on ticking
Unabomber Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Slotted in brilliantly, just about at his best which is very impressive
UniFox21 Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Calm on the ball, even when played under pressure. Strong and still has one hell of a left boot. As good as chilwell is, he could still learn a lot from Fuchs with how he positions himself defensively and how he runs down the line
Fox92 Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 His delivery is excellent. Both Fuchs and Chilwell get through a lot of work considering there isn't any help on that side at the minute. Unbelievable that we have to good left backs to pick from.
lee7 Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 I really hope Chilwell doesn't just walk back into the team once fit again. Fuchs crossing ability really is sensational.
TheSomersetFox Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Dropping him would send out a poor message. Fully deserves to keep his place

Jobyfox Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 It’s right that Chilwell has been first pick for the last couple of seasons as he is the future. I don’t, however, think he’s that far ahead in terms of what he brings to the team. Chilwell brings speed and athleticism and is a constant threat and outlet for the team offensively. Fuchs lacks Chilwell’s running, but probably has the edge defensively and his final ball is miles better than Chilwell’s. Chilwell’s lack of a final ball is currently what holds him back from being a promising player to a great one. It’s a great position to be in to have Chilwell, but also have somebody of Fuch’s ability to be prepared to sit on the bench.
Izzy Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 If I wanted to be any professional footballer, it would be Fuchs. He seems the type of bloke who’s grateful for what he’s got and loves his life. Always got a smile on his face and I bet his team mates love him to bits. I’ll be pretty sad when he eventually leaves but I sense he’ll be a success in whatever he chooses to do next. A proper hero of mine both on and off the field. Would love to meet him one day.

I’ll reserve judgment until he is up against some young quality fast wingers a 32 year old Pedro and a narrow Sheffield untitled are not going to be the toughest tests. I fail to see how he can be compared to a player that has played a whole season recently and had a lot tougher tests. Chillwell gets a lot of stick but he is young and always improving. Fuchs has been good against the limited opposition he has played against.

It also sends the message - ‘get injured and you’re out’ Chilwell has done enough to cement his place at left back…. Granted his first couple of games were a little pedestrian I love Fuchs and can simply celebrate the fact we have top drawer cover whilst Chilwell is out…. He’s been fantastic

I like Chilwell and think he’s right to be first pick, but for me he’s often not good enough defensively. Also, as stated, he often fails to hurt the opposition when he gets into great positions. If Chilwell improves in those areas he’ll be miles ahead of an ageing Fuchs. Unfortunately he’s not quite there just yet.
sdb Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Chilly is class and it's a shame some fans haven't really taken to him as much as they should. Perhaps the fear of losing him to a top4 side soon enough? However, Fuchs is still probably a more polished player. His effectiveness in the final third is considerably better than Chillwell. I'm happy to see either start and am more worried about the day we have neither!

If you bring Chilwell straight in you say to Fuchs and others that even if you play well you're at risk of being replaced once the regular starter is back. Chilwell needs to show in training that he's fit and compete for the place with Fuchs. Then if he shows to have more quality on the training field then you'd think of swapping.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 I think Fuchs was well aware when he signed for an extra year that his role is as backup to Chilwell. He's a model pro and will understand completely that Chilwell comes straight back in when fit.
Granfan Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 He adds confidence and maturity that the team seem to respect
StriderHiryu Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Yeah he’s been brilliant and his performances have been phenomenal for his age. Very impressive! The way he’s going he’ll be offered another year, if of course he wants it.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 I actually think Fuchs has the size, nous and ability to move inside to CB and prolong his career by a couple of years if he wanted to.
st albans fox Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Chilly comes straight back IF he is fit .... if they aren’t sure then could come back on the bench ... fuchs is a v decent no 2 but we miss Chilwell’s energy getting forward
Claridge Posted 25 August 2019 Posted 25 August 2019 Gets forward and does naff all most of the time.

Nobody is comparing him to Chilwell people are just commenting on how well he’s done given his limited game time in recent times!

As i said he has covered well, but to suggest Chilwell isnt far ahead based on those 2 games is slightly shortsighted
