Tom12345 Posted 5 December 2019 Posted 5 December 2019 Agree with all the positive comments about Fuchs above. Something not pointed out though is that he is still better defensively than Chilwell, especially when it comes to closing down and blocking crosses! How many crosses did he block yesterday? Chilwell hardly blocks anything.
Shane Posted 5 December 2019 Posted 5 December 2019 Just wondering would anyone be against him signing another 1 year deal? Reckon he will still be a quality player next year, but even if age catches up to him we have Justin who can cover both RB/LB so Fuchs will be a last resort option.

He has played in the Champions League for Schalke and Leicester before so could be a very good option for those games, which are sometimes slower and more tactical. I think he proved yesterday that experience and class help defy your age on the pitch, and he still has plenty of both. Also a great character to have around the team too.
lifted*fox Posted 5 December 2019 Posted 5 December 2019 love me some fuchs long may he continue to cameo and smash it like he's never been away
RoboFox Posted 5 December 2019 Posted 5 December 2019 I reckon he'll sign another contract extension. He still very much has a role to play, clearly a very well liked bloke in the changing room. He'd walk into most PL sides, TBH. We're very lucky to have two top-class left backs.
Deeg67 Posted 5 December 2019 Posted 5 December 2019 I love Fuchs, thought he was just fine given the level of opposition last night and would love to see him stick around for another season. But if you don't think we missed Chilwell's pace and drive against Watford, you're letting bias blind you to reality.

Fuchs was fine last night, defensively sound yes but contributed little in attack, as he cannot do what Chilwell can now. Much like yourself I thought we missed Chilwell's pace and energy down our left flank and it left us lop sided, its not Fuchs fault or anything he did wrong he simply doesn't have the pace or stamina to do so now
TJB-fox Posted 5 December 2019 Posted 5 December 2019 Was probably my man of the match yesterday. Everything he does just oozes class and experience, on and off the ball. Also, how good is his technical ability?

David Hankey Posted 5 December 2019 Posted 5 December 2019 Of course Chilwell's bursts of speeds and overlapping were missed last night but Fuchs is a solid performance and it's good we still have him in our ranks.
Kuredufox Posted 5 December 2019 Posted 5 December 2019 Defensively he is the best left back at the club however I believe Brendan insists on a bit more.
urban fox Posted 6 December 2019 Posted 6 December 2019 From the minute Claudio brought him into the side he has looked a class act. Was never the paciest of full backs but makes up for that with his ability to read the game and solidity. he is Mr dependable, seems to be well regarded and respected around the training ground and dressing room. How many players, having been a living legend at a club, would happily stick around as second fiddle to some young whipper snapper, help their development knowing that they are only going to get the odd run out, yet still keep themselves sharp enough to step up when called upon and put in a MOTM performance. He obviously holds an affinity with the club as he could easily have walked away last year. In fact he had said all along that he was retiring and going to America where his family are to pursue other ambitions. whoever persuaded him to stay (probably a combination of Rodgers, Rudkin and top) played a blinder. All good things must come to an end eventually, and he will certainly be missed when he does bow out, but one more year please Christian.Just think how good that CL medal will look hanging on your wall. And we want to see at least one more worldy of a pile driver from that left boot.
lcfc sheff Posted 1 January 2020 Posted 1 January 2020 He’s still got plenty in him yet, but definitely would like to see us target a left footed CB as it’s such an advantage in the LCB of a back 5/3
Russell sprout Posted 1 January 2020 Posted 1 January 2020 He won’t be signing a new contract and is leaving for the states in may, he told me this himself
GeorgeTheFox Posted 1 January 2020 Posted 1 January 2020 I know he wasn't exactly tested today but I feel like I would trust him in that LCB position if we choose to use it going forward. Was reminded today how impeccable his technique on the ball is - when he's got time he is such a classy player
Wortho Posted 1 January 2020 Posted 1 January 2020 Fuchs is one the greatest players we have ever had.
harpendenfox Posted 1 January 2020 Posted 1 January 2020 Fuchs is going to need a proper send off at the end of the season. Fantastic player who always seems to have a smile on his face. Love the bloke
UniFox21 Posted 1 January 2020 Posted 1 January 2020 Solid performance today, looked almost a different player compared to against West Ham
Bossman Blessed It Posted 1 January 2020 Posted 1 January 2020 Thought he dealt with any threat that came his way with calmness - he got the better of a lot of players from long balls too. One of our best signings over the past decade in my opinion. Got him for a pittance and he's provided so much to our club. Legend!
fox_favourite Posted 1 January 2020 Posted 1 January 2020 Fuchs will be long remembered by city fans. Technically a very good footballer and a class defender. I'll never forget that cup game that he had Mahrez in his pocket. His positional awareness is good and, even though not the quickest, knows how to deal with players with pace. He's not perfect, but he would walk into quite a few Premier League sides now as first choice.

Just a fvckin top bloke and I bet he's the best team mate you could ever wish to have. I wish him well in whatever he does next and he strikes me as the kind of chap who'll be a success in whatever career path he chooses. I hope he realises how much he's loved by us all
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 2 January 2020 Posted 2 January 2020 To just slot in at his age with no or little match fitness. Fuching beast.

Better than a pittance - he was free.. :-) Him and Albrighton were just in a list of the top 10 best free transfers of the last decade.!
Sly Posted 2 January 2020 Posted 2 January 2020 He’s a legend for me. When I think of some of the players we’ve had before him at left full back. His off the field presence will be playing a key a factor as well no doubt.
Tom12345 Posted 2 January 2020 Posted 2 January 2020 Fuchs attempted more forward passes than Chilwell, again, yesterday. Chilwell - second most backward passes in the EPL: https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/backward_pass The most is Willian, but he is a forward so naturally more of his passes are backwards, whereas Chilwell is a defender and he should be making a lot more forward passes.
