These fancy facemasks they wear in F1 are ****ing annoying me. None of them fit properly.

With all the money they have and the sheer ability of the engineers, you'd think they'd have fitted ones wouldn't you? But I guess it falls under one of those unimportant areas. Like Rosberg highlighted the other week with the fluid bottles not being cooled.

So to see past the excitement of a different winner for once

A full safety car for the Magnussen thing? Really? lol That shit is for what the VSC is for surely? They had a truck on track at the first chicane yesterday for a feeder race during a VSC. Bring out the VSC and close the pitlane, piss simple. Not a doubt in my mind they bought the full one out to close the field up again, then got lucky that Merc/Hamilton cocked up.

Also not only do Mercedes themselves look good with the new engine rules, but on one of the easiest tracks to overtake how stale was the overtaking action near the front for the entire race? And at the back tbh. Was just a train with a 1s gaps between them all.

Finally I hope Red Bull persist with Albon because they don't deserve Gasly. Renault should have snapped him up and had two Frenchies

The safety car was out for multiple laps right? VSC is fine for incidents which only really need to neutralise the race for half a lap or so. You could also argue if it was just a VSC, there may have been more people who did a hamitlon and gio because ultimately the penalty placed on both wouldn't have been as disastrous if the race wasnt completely neutralised. I think it was the right call personally

Like I said they can simply get around that by closing the pitlane and bringing out a VSC (in that order) so they could do their work safely. If its safe for a truck to be at the first chicane with a handful of marshals around under a VSC then how wasn't yesterday safe? lol I wasn't expecting them to open the pit lane before ending the safety car, even if all cars could first pit after the SC came in, you'd still have Hamilton/Giovanazzi lose 6s doing a 10 second stop go. Not disastrous at all but it wouldn't be the first time a penalty has been applied that doesn't change a thing (Rosberg 5s penalty for barging through somebody at Malaysia springs to mind).

Yeah but that's the thing, even in that order theres no guarantee that the same wouldn't have happened and even more so. Completely neutralising the race was the right call in preventing that being the best strategy to take the penalty to gain potentially, especially in the case of Hamilton hed have definitely won the race despite that. Dont worry pal he'll win the next race

When marshalls are on the track and vulnerable they almost always do a full safety car. I think if it's just recovery vehicles then VSC is used.

VSC is still fast enough to kill some poor bloke at the side of the road if shit goes wrong.

Could see Perez taking a year out, would be ideal for Haas though with the sponsorship he brings but would he want to take the step back, getting on a bit now too

Looks like he could return to sauber

Interesting dynamic at Aston Martin then next season. Let's hope Vettel gets on with daddy's boy else there could be some right old politics at play if there's an epic fallout.

Lance ain't going to have that much pull, while stroll holds the team,Vettel will be thoroughly backed by the shareholders

Ah there was a fair bit of tongue-in-cheek at my comment, though it's interesting to know about the dynamic based on the above. Just hope Seb uses the revitalisation of a new team and harnesses fresh positivity.
