But the problem is the light meter reading the umps took sets the standard for the rest of the game. I.e. Any time it gets that "dark" they'll go off.

Ahh okay.

I agree with your overall point, test cricket doesn't help itself with number of stoppages

Good to see Pope getting a 50, just looks a naturally good player.

I’m sure it’s been said a lot, but Pope really does look like Ian Bell

Was going to make the some comment myself.

He's really got that feel of Bell.

Let's hope he has a similar test career.

Not watching, have they bowled any short stuff at Broad. Different batsmen usually when you aim at him. Criminal how his batting has gone so downhill since the beginning but good to see him have some fun today, got the shots.

The issue was they didn't bowl at his stumps really. Just gave him room and he played his shots.

You called it spot on yesterday mate

Yep. And people wonder why casual fans struggle to get into it.

Archer must be seething. Dowrich was absolutely on the ropes. Would have been amazed if he'd have survived the rest of that over.

Especially when yesterday Buttler and Pope both wanted to continue as they felt lighting was fine.

Good on him, great stuff.

It's a huge shame for many of the reserves in the West Indies squad to come all this way at such risk and not get any meaningful game time like proper tour matches. Hopefully if the ECB actually do come round to repaying the West Indies for getting this tour on they'll work out a way to help with their young players' development. Saw a good suggestion that the ECB should guarantee county contracts for West Indian players who want to come over here, which would be mutually beneficial - especially for counties like Leicestershire.

That's a big "if" mind, the ECB aren't exactly saints when it comes to acting in the interests of global cricket.

In true Woakes style, takes 5er and barely gets a mention. Great effort from Broad, one thing I noticed when they put top wicket takers up is the amount of games Anderson and Broad compared to the others. Shows great level of consistency and fitness.

A shame it's only a 3 game series. And showing any doubters that you need 5 days available in England if you want a result.
