Ordering a takeaway

We got Fish & Chips delivered yesterday evening. They quoted 2 hours for delivery, so I called and offered to pick it up, but it arrived within an hour.

My Chinese was the opposite, quoted 40 mins and took 2 hours, won’t be using them again.

Got it through Just eat and when I rang the Chinese they told me they just marked them all as delivered. Seemed very dodgy to me.

To be fair at least 15 minutes of that hour was because google maps takes you to a farm a couple of miles away when you put my postcode in so the delivery guy obviously had to detour.

As do many chinese things.

It’s always 40 minutes from the Chinese, whether it’s 20 or an hour.

‘How long will it be?’

’40 minutes’

That's very much the picture in the West End of Leicester. Which may be where you are.

My kids have requested takeaway pizza so I'll be going through the apps later to see if it's an option or their culinary dreams are to be crushed

Yep, you're right. Searched Glenfield, Anstey, and down to woodgate and Hinckley rd

Not had a takeaway for years, had three in the last 8 days due to various codes on uber eats and just eat. Paid less than £5 for 6 meals between the two of us due to said codes.

I find takeaways better than the supermarket in terms of hygiene, at this present moment. The supermarkets are packed and look like a tornado has gone through most aisles, everything has been touched by seemingly everyone.

Had one last night from Capacodia in Oadby. Lovely wraps and kebabs etc. Like others have said, it keeps businesses going.

Domino's Pizza, they will not take cash and you cant interact with the delivery driver, I just had them leave my stuff outside the door, then knock and walk, used PayPal.

I’m fairly confident I had covid19 so I’m quite relaxed about ordering takeaways. Problem is I live in Stratford-upon-Avon and I can’t find a takeaway that’s open.

Fortunately I can’t smell or taste much still so it’d probably be a waste anyway.

Not had one in ages, but reading this thread has made me really crave for some sweet and sour chicken balls. However living in a village outside of Melton, not many places will deliver so collection is really my only option.

Usually have at least one a week but haven't had one for the last 2 weeks. Nothing to do with the virus, it's simply because I'm at home all day and bored out my mind.

Not sure the missus is very happy mind, she's still working and my cooking skills are horrendously lacking compared to hers.

I've used the drive through a few times(mostly just for coffee).

Ordered Domino's once, which was just before they started doing the no contact delivery thing.

Craving Chinese, but that makes me a bit nervous.

Just out of interest, can I ask why?

Anyone still doing it? I've not had one for well over a month but was craving a pizza tonight.

Didn't do it as I feel too wary but wondered if anyone was still using them as usual.

I don’t see it being any different from buying some food that’s pre-made that you aren’t going to cook. A packed sandwich from the shop etc.

Best advice I've seen if that if it's hot food it's going to kill the virus if there's any on it. Anything above 60C kills even the most steadfast of viruses. Just make sure the delivery driver drops it off on your doorstep.

The issue is just the packaging. Just make sure you take everything out the packaging, put it on a plate, throw the packaging away, then all wash your hands before you eat.

If you're worried about the packaging leaving stuff on your worktops, just put it on top of some kitchen roll or tin foil or something while you're dishing it out and chuck that with the packaging too.

If you do that, it's probably safer than going out and getting something from the supermarket.

(Plus you're helping to keep delivery drivers, cooks, cleaners and kitchen staff in jobs and helping the struggling economy too if you want to feel to convince yourself about it more).

You ever been to panda chopsticks not far from ikea in Burlington.  Stopped there on the way home from Niagara one day randomly and enjoyed it. Been back twice when coming back from Hamilton as its kind of on the way back this way.

If you are worried about covid that could be at any place thats currently open. Id be more concerned about rodents, cockroaches and fromunda cheese lol

I'd have to go with racism.

Think it's more ignorance per say. I understand the " easy connection" but it's not that way at all. Change your way of thinking bro!  Covid doesnt hate based on skin colour.

Haven't tried Panda Chopsticks yet.
