Where’s Ndidi?

He has to do all the leg work when playing with Tielemans and there’s no other midfielder to take the ball from him in a 2 either. He’s an elite defensive midfielder but we put so much pressure on him because the rest of the side are so easy to play through

I was very, very surprised he wasn't sent off for the penalty, almost as surprised as he must have been to find his captain absolutely beaming the ball straight at his spine. I've just sort of accepted he's not a great passer and the ball is going to ping off him every so often - if it weren't so, he probably wouldn't be here.

Kante has been shit for the past 12/18 months

@Sampson hilarious, last time you seen Kante must’ve been 2018 World Cup or when he was playing for us.

lol Why are you getting rumbled.

Calling Kante shit is so disingenuous and you know it. He's been superb when he's actually been played in his correct position. Ndidi is a good player but he's obviously not on Kante's level. It's you and Ndidi's mum vs the other 8 billion people on earth in that debate.

I think he's the best pure defensive midfielder in the league, and that should be his role.

comment il s'appelle? Kanté!

N'golo N'golo Kanté!

Nah Kante is not a 6 in my mind. Ndidi definitely is.

Kante can run all day so he's better suited to central midfield rather than the more restricted positions of a defensive midfielder.

Why does this thread mean he's getting blamed rather than just asking why his performance levels have dropped?

Everybody's performance levels has leapt off a cliff compared to the first half of the season, so its the very definition of being blamed isn`t it?

No it's not.

Being blamed is saying he's responsible solely for it. Questioning why his performance levels have dropped is perfectly valid and nothing like blaming him and saying he's solely responsible. Neither does it say anything about whether other players have dropped off worse or say anything about the rest of the side. People are jumping on perfectly valid questions about Ndidi's drop offs in performances by attributing false accusations of blame to them.

They did the same when I pointed out Kasper's very bad at the office, so I should know better :)

He was very good 1st half, as was Tielemans. Nothing to see here.

Spot on! Ndidi and Tielemans were bossing the midfield in the first-half - until Brendan’s half-time brain freeze.

Ndidi plays better as a defensive mid in an attack minded team, the 1-0 tactics dont suit him as much.

He was decent in the first half of bournemouth game.

But how has it objectively dropped off (apart from the Watford game, where I thought he never got going)?

He still leads practically every game in tackles (either 1st or 2d), interceptions, headers and averaging about 90% passing completion (over 92% last night), with among the most touches of any player on both sides? Problem is when a team is playing as poorly as we’ve been, virtually every player looks poorer (if not poor).

Doubt he’ll be “here” much longer, especially if we are missing out on Europe.

Albeit it sounds like he wants to stay and is happy to stay (and grateful to us for taking a punt on him).

Seen a few player's threads getting a bump after last night's performance but nothing on Wilf. He along with Youri bossed that midfield last night. Just seemed like he was everywhere

I think Wilfs bar is very high because of his consistency, therefore I guess its an expectation to see him thrive. Great again of course.

He's obviously all over the pitch making tackles, but I think he's really improved this season as a passer. He's a lot more confident showing for the ball and turning with it.  It is insane to think the kid is only 23. Maybe one of the most underrated players in the premier league. How we aren't having to fend off the "big clubs" in the premier league, and Real Madrid / Barca for this guy is beyond me.

Are you his Agent?

If we lose any more CBs this season we'd have to play Ndidi as CB and get Hamza in to cover the midfield.

Not ideal but Wilf started out as a CB IIRC
