AKCJ Posted 13 July 2020 Posted 13 July 2020 Will be very pissed off if we don't take this seriously. If we qualify for the group stage then we really ought to qualify for the knockout rounds.

Swiss_tony Posted 13 July 2020 Posted 13 July 2020 what makes you think you'll be able to travel and attend games?
CosbehFox Posted 13 July 2020 Posted 13 July 2020 Hate to be a cnut like but I think the most exotic it would get for a travelling fan is Motherwell. Most countries aiming for 30 to 40% crowds. Some countries already at 100% - however they are insisting on two weeks quarantine ala Hungary or they having big outbreaks of their own ala Serbia

Slightly unfair because it's not comparable, 3 months of a lock down, no training and no pre-season then thrown into this 3/4 day game turn around to finish a season.
Swiss_tony Posted 13 July 2020 Posted 13 July 2020 Teams like us can look at burnley and wolves in previous seasons to see how the EL affects domestic performance for teams without squad depth.

Because realistically it's more likely than CL. For us to finish 7th and not attain EL would be a travesty and I want some hope in my life following Leicester after last night

Swiss_tony Posted 13 July 2020 Posted 13 July 2020 i see us getting no more than 2 pts from the last 3 games based on current form. we still have to play 3 of the other top 8 who are still in the hunt, so we could be party poopers in 6 pointers. we need to avoid defeats against sheff and spurs, and then see how the land lies on the final day. but i can't see us getting enough to hold onto 5th never mind 4th. 6th or 7th is looking very likely.
Filbert_Ross Posted 13 July 2020 Posted 13 July 2020 Who came 6th in a 3 horse race? who came 6th in a 3 horse race? Leicester ****ing City

smudger63 Posted 13 July 2020 Posted 13 July 2020 So, lots of ifs, maybes and very unlikelys, but if we and Man utd both win our next 2 games, and Chelsea win tomorrow which is most likely, but lose at Liverpool, which is very possible, then a nice friendly draw between ourselves and Man Utd in the last game will see us both qualify for the champions league, regardless of if Chelsea win their last game against Wolves, because of the far superior goal difference of ourselves and Man Utd over Chelsea.

I agree. I think 66 points gets us 4th place and champions league football. It would be preferable to win both of the next two games, but I would snap your arm off if you offered me 4 pts out of Sheffield/Tottenham. That would likely make the table (with one match left): United at 65 Leicester at 63 Chelsea at 63

No it goes on head to head if we're level. And Chelsea head to head is 2 draws. But it them goes to away goals scored which chelsea have 2 to our 1 so they win Then onto United we lost 1 0 there so we would need to win 1 0 and have then it can go on gd falling that we need to win by 2 goals, either 2 0 or 3 1, 4 2 etc. This rule is only in place for teams in European places and relagation places.

As 2 draws we would lose on head to head. https://www.premierleague.com/news/1262217
lcfcfoz Posted 14 July 2020 Posted 14 July 2020 I may be wrong wiki has this.. In which case win our next 2 as said above and Man u. Pray liverpool beat Chelsea and pass around for a draw in final game to ensure us and man u both get our champions league ticket Rules for classification: 1) Points; 2) Goal difference; 3) Goals scored; 4) If the champions, relegated teams or qualified teams for UEFA competitions cannot be determined by rules 1 to 3, rules 4.1 to 4.3 are applied – 4.1) Points gained in head to head record between such teams; 4.2) Away goals scored in head to head record between such teams; 4.3) Play-offs[135]
lcfcfoz Posted 14 July 2020 Posted 14 July 2020 Confirmed it is goal difference then goals scored before head to head phew
