No Firmino or Gabriel, either!

9 forwards (!) and no room for Firmino. Wow.

No room for Fernandinho, David Luiz, Lucas Moura, Coutinho, Emerson Royal, Marcelo etc.

And still I feel this squad looks average, especially in midfield.

Not surprised with Fernandinho, Moura, Coutinho, Royal, Marcelo. They're all over the hill.

I thought Gabriel would be in there ahead of Thiago Silva.

Neymar!?

Nowhere near over the hill. He's been one of PSG's best performers this season.

Guess they will be relying on their attack to out score the opposite team I guess rather than be defensive?

From the European perspective, they never understand the S.Ameican selections...but those dastardly foreigners come up more often trumps

Rather have Barnes , Maddison or  ,Grealish doing Sterlings job..

Sterling as actually produced important goals, but he misses too often those clear cut chances...

Kane has to be told not to drop back, only defending corners & set pieces.

I would love to see Southgate use the power of Foden - Maddison -Grealish

Probably my last W.cup, if I could chose

My team...I have some players I really want to see representing England..

A few blank spaces for others to fill in...

                           GK

         Xxx.          Xxx.         Justin/Shaw

                         Rice

       Foden.     Bellingham. Grealish

                       Maddison

                  Kane.    Rashford

Formation is something one can change around...

Dani Alves and Thiago Silva still making squads is insane lol

If they were English, they’d both make our starting XI on ability.

Yes I can understand the call..I've wanted to like him for the England shirt.

IMO Grealish has shown in an England shirt,he can produce and shown he has that higher  notch & gear.Though he's not been on it lately...

Saka as plenty of  potential, but not yet shown he as the that grit to go up those extra notches...Plus he is at present an injury doubt..

That would leave us far too exposed against anyone half decent I think (especially with Southgates negative football).

Granted Rice could drop into a back 4. I just feel 3ATB requires proper wingbacks. Foden and Grealish can’t/won’t do that work. I know you’ve not got them as wingbacks there btw.

Southgate even in good performances against top opposition as played 3 atb,and tends to like it..but obviously one expects flexability of selection, according to own feeling or to counter opposition. But I see this 11 as our best choice..We lose maybe Rashford or he slots in over one of the others so we can play 4 at the back...

Besides it's my team :P I would like to see, without being too concerned what the opposition as to offer...fk 'em..!!

Hope Qatar get walloped by Ecuador

You know it'll be the dodgiest reffing performance of all time with Ecuador having 2 players sent off and Qatar getting a dodgy pen.
