Can we focus on a deal that helps us be more competitive.  This news is irrelevant to me

An extra £8-10 million might be the difference for signing a squad player as useful as Justin has been for us, or affording a player like Trincao.

Depends whether the fee is genuine or whether it is a way of them signing him and us paying his wages. I believe deals are structured this way sometimes when a club wants to offload a player but the buying club can't afford the wages.

But it’s not irrelevant getting rid of dead wood like him and others frees up monies and squad spaces so we can get other players in to be more competitive.

I agree that we need to tidy up this situation and others... and to convert them, to money.  I am just frustrated that we have made so little progress on improving our competitiveness.  I admit it would be better to be in the relegation zone with a few extra mill in the bank... yet I was hoping we could sort out come attacking options to unlock defences and to win games.

If I’m behind the curve on this one forgive me, but Mail seem to think £7m is the figure. Surely we haven’t managed to negotiate that, have we? Awesome if so.

looks good - there was debate Friday night as to what it may hide but it will be at least 5m nett and his wages gone.

Well if we get rid of players like him we should be able to get some attacking options in . The reason we’ve made little progress is we have so many average ti rubbish players on high salaries that nobody wants to pay so out hands have been tied We’ve got rid of Kaputski and King,  possibly Slimani if we can also get rid of Silva,  Ghezzal and  Diabate that’s a whole lot of money freed up

I wonder if we recouped any money from Monaco in loan fees?

Might cushion the blow of the financial loss.

Throw in Amartey and James too, would love to know the combined wage of this lot

Wherever he goes there will be no fee and we will still have to pay a large % of his wages i would imagine.

Hmm.

Is Chilwell still 100% staying as well?

£7m is about the most we could expect... when you add in all the loan fees we've had for him, we've clawed back £12m+ of the fee.

Bit more on the loans fees

newcastle paid 3.5M for half of season

Would have thought similar fees for others clubs for the full season

Newcastle was £2m loan fee and the rest wages from what I read. Can't image the others paid that much considering he flopped there.
