Slimani and Silva felt like the most exciting transfers ever at the time, just goes to show how throwing cash at the transfer window can go so wrong.

Silva unfortunately was always up against it after the fax issue.

Slimani was just a shocking culture fit. I think at another prem team he may have been successful.

He's not here because of his attitude and falling out with other members of the squad, not because of his ability. A bad apple can spoil the bunch...

It's interesting that when you go to the first team list on the website, Slimani is the only one without a photo (although Ghezzal isn't even there, although Silva and Diabaté are ... maybe he was sold and no one cared?)

Not sure Newcastle would agree.

Down near the bottom of this article:

"Leicester flop Islam Slimani is meanwhile wanted by Fiorentina.

The Serie A club has reportedly offered £4.5m for the striker, who has a year left on his contract."

Snap their hands off.

I just want rid of him now, I don't care if we get nothing for him any more. Just go.

Everyone knows how much I 'hate' him (I don't hate, I just don't think he'd very good but that apparently hate nowadays), but i'd even be tempted to keep him given our lack of depth, very often clubs need to get rid before they can bring in, in our current position I don't think we can afford to get rid before we can bring in. Given he's only got a year on his contract left we're not gonna get a great fee for him, pittance, besides 'we don't need the money', the only reason I'd let him go in the situation we find ourselves in is if his attitude really is that bad which seems quite plausible.

Besides people talk about giving players a chance, has he even been tried in this god awful style we've been trying (Trying a key word) for the last few years? Give him a chance, it might suit him - doubtful because we struggle to get the ball forward but he strikes me as playing with his back to goal so could work in this style given how we like to pass backwards and sideways, it's worth a shot.

He was a panic buy and expect more this window if we don't get our act together sometime soon, heck, they even sound appealing the way things are going.

Very much doubt Vardy would be signing a contract extension if he thought Slim would be coming back to the squad.

Vardy needs a striker to rotate with but not him

We’re only going on paper talk but these are the weirdest negotiations ever - interested parties coming and going but willing to walk away from a deal for 1 million euros difference on the bid/ sell price

Red Flag

can you imagine if he did well, he would probably get a new 4 year contract and we would be left with him till the end of his career.

Do you remember how he celebrated with the Algerian Trophy. He seems about as far away as you can get from a team player.

Needs to do one ASAP

Hence my comments about a bad attitute being plausible.

But given where we are with such a thin squad it doesn't sit comfortable with just seeing outgoings, even 1 or 2 incomings wouldn't settle those thoughts, likewise signing loads of new players can't be seen as a good thing, signing players for that sake of signing them is never a good thing but given our failures in previous seasons to get a quality squad together is now coming home to roost.

I'd get him involved again, we need that threat from crosses and another option going into the new season where we will potentially have more games than ever. I have never understood why we persist with small strikers when, after 2-3 seasons at least, we have continuously found ourselves unable to create chances and capitalise on hundreds of crosses and set piece chances.
