Mightyfin said we'd not get a fee and would still have to contribute to his wages. So even if we had to pay all his wages this year we'd have made about £4m on this deal and that won't be the case anyway. Huge for us to get him gone and hopefully with Chilwell going next week we should see us bring 2-3 new players in minimum.

Agree. Looks like an extract from a primary school project created by a 10 year old.

Throw in Amartey and James too, would love to know the combined wage of this lot

It's a lot. At an educated guess, I'd say the bomb squad is probably on around £300k per week total. You have to allow for the odd mistake on the wage bill, but we could do a lot with that freed up. We could either be paying new players with that or tying down important players to new contracts.

I think it's encouraging that we haven't made any huge errors since Slimani and Silva. The club have probably learnt from that. I can imagine they thought adding some players in their prime was worth the extra expense to lessen the risk, but if you do that, you have to make sure they're the players you want.

Come on now, Youri definitely left the glamour of Monaco to come to the mighty Leicester and be paid just over 30k a week lol

Slimani is great striker but was never get his chance since Reniery left. Look what he did at Monaco last season...Rennes are playing champions league next season and they need an experience forward..they will sign him surely. Wish him all the best...hard working player and he will do in League 1 French.

No, this is wrong. I know everyone has a right to an opinion but suggesting Slimani is a “great striker” is beyond ridiculous.

He had numerous chances and managers to impress. For a £30 million (yes, £30 million) striker, he has to be one of the biggest disappointments in this clubs history. Great in the air but the first touch of a baby elephant. Don’t forget, he had a loan move to Newcastle to show us what we were missing and flopped there too. He had a purple patch at Monaco but again fell by the wayside once expectation arrived.

I wish him the best but he is simply not good enough for this level. He is a mediocre striker which we overpaid for by millions. Great, he is not.

Agreed it would be around that figure, if we sell the following players who imo don’t have a future here anymore as well as players who have already left, we would have £350k a week available In wages. This is without Chilly’s wages too.

With this amount of wages that should be able to finance 4/5 big players on wages of around £70/£90k a week.

Slimani £80k

Silva £80k

King £40k

Diabate £20k

Ghezzal £30k

Kapustka £20k

James £40k

Amartey £40k

According to The Telefoot channel, Islam Slimani is about to commit to Stade Rennais, close to an agreement with Leicester.

so that was  10 days ago and  I guess there’s every chance it was accurate back then.

i suspect there has been plenty of agents talking to each other  for weeks but no formal bid until recently.

Yes it would be great to get these players off of our wage bill, but most only have a maximum of 1 year left on their contracts anyway don’t they? So that 350k a week x 52 weeks is £18.2million total value.

4 new players at 70k a week, on an average of 3 year contracts, is a commitment of £43.7m of contracts........

So that’s still the club committing to an extra £25m in wages over the next 3 years...........

One doesn’t equal the other.

Sometimes I think people don’t understand how football/business works?

Premier league ‘annual wage ffp’ is covered in isolation of the total contractual commitment though ...........

We'd have to pay wages whether those players left or not.

Maybe so, but if what the poster is trying to say is simply that we’re saving 350k a week now, so we can spend another 350k a week on wages for new signings, while that may work ffp wise when looking at a year in isolation,  it’s still not an equality in the clubs normal financial accounting. It’s still a massively increased, guaranteed,  contractual financial outlay.

Telefoot say Rennes have offered €6m but City would like €9m - Telefoot go on to say they expect there to be an agreement found fairly soon, as expected in the €7-8m bracket.

The French season is already underway so Rennes will be quite eager to get that deal done as soon as possible.

Slimani, never dead. he will not let go on the ground. it comes from too far away, Algerian na D3 tartans. We never gave him gifts. In Monaco or elsewhere, call the super Slim!

Fuch knows what that means.
