I once stayed in a hotel in Berlin around the corner from a place called "Sex Maze" with blackened out windows and a sign reminding passers by that Friday is Bi-Day.

I think it was more likely the sex maze type stuff than the German sense of order that attracted the late greased-up muscle-laden variety entertainers to the Fatherland.

It used to be fish day when I was a kid and I’ve nothing else to say on the matter

My workplace doesn't really give much of a shit about diversity* nor (when it comes down to it) is that bothered about people's mental health. They happily put the squeeze on employees

But it does give a shit about pumping out message after message about diversity and mental health. It's become obsessive, fanatical, rabid, manic about it.

*Footnote, why doe s.my work always think 'diversity' = sexual orientation? Can't diversity also be physical looks? Attitudes? Ages? Politics? Dress style?

I still like Pointless even though it is getting a little tired. Alexander Poshcvnt answering the questions the contestants can't get is bloody annoying and smug as fook.

The Devon sickness outbreak has convinced me to never drink tap water again.

Water system has its flaws, just as most systems do, but we're hugely lucky to have the systems we do in place.

You'd be shocked the amount of testing, treatment and work that goes into providing your water

I wouldn't disagree with you. Maybe that's why the news and the nation goes into freefall when there's an outbreak within the water system.

That said, the reports of sewage overspilling into gardens and domestic properties is justifiably alarming and worrying. If sewage is allowed to be discharged into rivers and water courses who can say what controls are in place? The water companies don't do themselves any favours and it's no wonder confidence amongst the consumer is quite low.

It's satisfying when I know something and he doesn't though!

Definitely, the way sewage is handled is absolutely needing to be improved across the board.

It's one of those where we take for granted when things are working well, but it becomes a massive issue when something does go wrong.

Crypto in particular is a proper pain, what the articles aren't telling people is that it comes massively from livestock and animals. We're in peak livestock grazing weather so we're seeing more, alongside slurry spreading leaching into rivers.

The articles you see on why clubs are dying out never seem to mention the one of the most bloody obvious reason to me, the rise of dating apps in case you haven't guessed.

Back in my prime, trying and failing to meet someone on a night out was a massive factor in deciding whether to head out or not. I still enjoyed nights out regardless but at least half my mates probably wouldn't have bothered clubbing at all if dating apps were a thing when they were single.

My 14 year old lad has just returned from town having been to the hairdressers and got himself a proper mullet.

A mullet. WTF. Apparently they're trendy now. He looks like peak Chris Waddle FFS

I have so many questions about this! My first one is did he have longish hair to start with? He must have, surely?!

But more importantly, can he sky the ball over the bar at a crucial time for his country, crushing the dreams of his compatriots and leading generations into a never ending feeling of football failure at a national level? If he can, fairplay, he must have some big shoulders to go with his new haircut ;)

Any legal experts on here.
long story short, I had a company in to insulate and plaster house. They used sub contractors. One of the team went into a barn where I was working, fell from a landing on the external staircase and broke his leg very badly. He has now instructed a claim blame solicitor and is suing me as he will never work again. I have no house insurance so I will be responsible for any payments.
Important: When the team arrived on site I went through a talk with all of them explicitly stating that they should not be in the barns or outbuildings as they weren’t safe. I also warned the injured party as he walked up into the barn not to do so and that the railings weren’t safe but he continued. His letter states that he went there to ask me something about the job which is a lie, he told me at the time he was being nosey and just wanted a cigarette.
Everything I’ve read online says I’m fvcked.
anyone been in a similar situation?

Just to add, this happened 13 months ago but just received the letter. He’s called me several times to let me know how he is and said to me that it was his fault and he should have listened to me.
Obviously changed his mind now.

Did your phone record those conversations?

I pay for an app that records all calls on my phone. Worth the money for stuff like this.

I wish. He’s accepted responsibility verbally to me, his work colleagues were saying at the time what was he up there for anyway, we were told it was out of bounds.

Do any of your bank accounts or cards include any legal cover or personal liability insurance?

Good question, I’ll check.

I've just remembered pet insurance too, ours includes personal liability insurance and I don't think it's limited to claims related to the dogs, so if you have any pet insurance check that too!

Sadly no. I just checked all accounts.

This man has basically ignored my instruction and done something to cause himself a nasty injury but it seems that the law is on his side.

Spoke with a friend of a friend who is a barrister dealing with these types of claim and he said we're done for. Even if we were to win the case and prove his lies we would still be liable for costs which could amount to over a hundred thousand. if we lose then we're basically bankrupt...

These no win no fee systems are incredibly cruel, as a defendant we lose either way. I'm going to see a specialist solicitor tomorrow (£200 per hour)

Was your contract not legally with the people you actually employed, and therefore they are responsible for the sub contractors? You didn't directly employ the sub contractors, so how can you be responsible for them, surely the company you contracted are responsible for the subbies and they should have risk assessed the environment?

https://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/cdm/2015/principal-contractors.htm

This reads to me as though your contractor is the responsible party for the subbies rather than you

Lots of use of the word contract/ors there, sorry!

That's what I believed but barrister says otherwise. I'm speaking with solicitor tomorrow so will take this information and ask.

Thanks for taking the time to find this, much appreciated.
