Walking back through town after a quick beer after the match. Had an itch to scratch so bought a big choc bar from Tesco. Continue down granby st and there’s a huge Xmas market full of awesome smelling snacks but I’ve had 200g of Tesco milk chocolate!!! Never seen this market before but I’ll have a look when back for Xmas, looked great

It's small but there's actually a reasonable little range given the scale. Was in Nottingham this weekend and while the scale is larger, that one has a reputation as being a 'good' Christmas market and there wasn't really that much there you'd say ours was missing, unless the idea of an ice skating racetrack appeals to you. lol

Been pleasantly surprised with the offering this year in the city - the lights look great at Town Hall and St. Martins especially and it's refreshing to have something different in town - makes a change... though whisper it, they suddenly found the cash to expand the Christmas offering at the same time they cut the Diwali funding...

Completely agree. I’ve been to some the Christmas markets that people solely travel to, for reasons I don’t even know. Birmingham, Munich, Vienna. All overhyped. Although winter wonderland in London is class. Leicester looked and smelled great! Didn’t know about the Diwali funding tho

Chatting to an American earlier today, nice chap and his parting words were, 'You have a happy holiday.'

I think most (all?) Americans think we all celebrate Thanksgiving?

I'm sure a lot of Americans assume the rest of the world celebrate their holidays.

When did commercial radio stations become just betting sites? It seems to me that all the likes of Capital/Magic radio etc do is play a song and then talk about their latest cash giveaway competition in-between. It's relentless.

On Magic you don't have to say a phrase! Nothing like that, just pick up the phone and be the latest winner of our Christmas cash giveaway ™️

Competitions are big revenue generators.

Advertising spend is down every year across conventional media and broadcasters are starting to struggle so it's just diversifying.

Competition > advert for Selco

Regarding betting adverts, have seen on the TV adverts called 'Happy Cow Bingo', 'Happy Tiger Bingo' and more recently 'Lucky Pants Bingo'..

It's where the trade goes!

I went to a restaurant on Saturday with a decent rep in London. However, I was completely put off when I found it was in a hotel. I don't think have ate somewhere thinking depending on where you sit could directly affect your evening so much. If you sat to one point, you were effectively in the reception; it just wasn't well laid out.

No amount of bawling on social media will make up for the fact you are responsible for some of that profit.

There is a quite simple solution to this, don't withdraw cash. You have no valid reason to use cash other than dodging taxes.

So you’re saying dodging taxes is a valid reason?

You're saying many old Australians engage the services of sex workers and do coke? Is this the kind of behaviour @davieG gets up to?

We have a communal Xmas tree per floor at my office, for everyone to decorate. On my floor there is my dept and a friendly but v gobby dept. I keep putting a picture of Vardy up on one of the lower branches, and someone keeps taking it down. I keep printing and putting another one up.

One of the gobs came over and in the British manner of I'm-actually-annoyed-at-you-but-will-come-across-jokingly-to-avoid-conflict said to stop putting his pic up. In the same manner I said It's a communal tree and I am taking up a tiny part of it, so what's the problem, I don't need to get my decoration approved?

So I guess we will keep playing this game until xmas.

Sometimes the American way of having a massive argument over a trivial issue is easier.

Wow why would one be so petty to take that down? On another note thanks for the idea I’m going to stick one on our work tree and see what happens.
