I thought he played okay today. Even quite well. The team played a lot better after he came on. 

 

Yeah he missed the header, but he could have had an assist if Mukasa had finished that volley. I don't blame him for the goal, he can't mark two players. Nelson and Okoli are marking the same player and Mavididi just let's his man run. They're all culpable. 

 

I'd hate to be a full back in this team. Our centre backs don't seem to communicate or organise; they constantly get pulled out of position. Our wingers don't track back or mark their man. So our full backs are always exposed and we expect them to run up and down the pitch all game.

Nelson lose he man which every one forgets, Thomas tries to cover and end up between two, Mavididi miles behind play.

 

3 mistakes in one goal, Thomas has a share of the blame but the other have as much.

You can not blame the useless twit for today! Mav leaves him completely exposed for the second and Kristensen lossed his man for the first, He got forward as much as he could and in the end he finds himself with a chance to win it.

I thought he made the difference to our 2nd half he worked well with Mav and provided a lot of  forward momentum, sure he's not perfect but point out another player who didn't make more than one mistake. As for the missed goal I was pleased he was there and I've seen plenty of world class players miss easier chances without taking the blame for the whole team.

Kristiansen: 

Transfer fee - £17m

5 years @ 30k/ week = £7.5m 

 

Thomas:

9 years @ 30k/week = £13.5m

 

Thats ~ £40m this pair of plonkers will have cost us. Thinking of these figures is a big part of the reason why I feel so disillusioned with football. £40m!!!!

I’d argue Nelson has to forget about his man when he sees the flight of the cross and just win the header - ultimately you defend the ball first.

 

Equally - we allowed the cross to come in far too easily - a common theme when we’re defending (especially leads) where we seem to think standing in front of a player 5 yards deep is adequate defence.

Personally, I don’t really want my winger back that far in open play like that.

 

You can cope with an extra man in the box if your defenders and keeper defend their aerial zones correctly.

 

It also helps to put pressure on the ball before it is delivered into the box rather than stand 5 yards off.

Yes, I moaned about him for a bit, but I think you've got a fair point, on balance. I wouldn't be quite so nice about Mavididi, who was very questionable for the goal and missed a good chance, but you're right again that he at least posed a threat. Reasons for just a little optimism.
