There was a major traffic incident near the crossroads the other day; two men were killed and three women have been arrested on suspicion of murder:

Not just arrested - three women CHARGED with murder. One of them is apparently a well-known tik tok influencer. The trial might be an interesting one to follow...

Having family who live in the area, they always says how dangerous this junction is and when the new training ground location was announced this was the first thing we spoke about. Whilst the article sounds like there could be more to the story I hope our lads are extra careful!

they did do work on the junction before opening and I'm not aware of any accidents since, though it can still be quite dangerous. This sounds like something much more sinister, like they've been run off the road or something.

the 'accident' had no relevance to the road layout - clearly something v strange went on .......

This.

Does the training centre location even have any relevance to the story? I doubt it.

501 I think either way it's an odd total lol

It's 499, I think. The club must have been told they wouldn't be allowed 500 or more seats when being given planning permission.

Seems according to the website you are correct. Pretty sure that wasn't the case tho.

Pretty sure what wasn't the case? The number of seats?

Yes. My wife dealt with the planning application from Charnwoods end. I'm pretty sure the number of seats was never discussed.

I thought it was to do with policing and crowd safety. Once you hit 500 the rules all change.

I'm pretty sure it's always been 499 seats. I haven't looked it up recently, but remember thinking whenever the figure was announced that we must have been told we're not allowed a stadium there with a capacity of 500 or more.

Edit: Like @sylofox says, I think it is to do with policing and crowd safety.

Maybe the club were advised that and it was part of the original planning. But I don't think that suggestion or directive came from the council.

5 people charged with murder now. Definitely not related to the road configuration!

Is it not highly unusual for death in a motor accident to be murder? Assume they were deliberately run off the road causing death rather than a dangerous driving incident.

Maybe. I just can't remember the number of seats ever being anything other than 499. I don't think they've removed any.
