....I play snooker and when you find that something that you have been doing but was wrong and someone points it out to you it is priceless!!!

Much the same with golf, keep your head down was a big eye opener for me as it was always inclined to start coming up prior to contact with the ball. Get that right and that is a lot of shots taken off a round as you are more likely to be hitting the greens than taking "drops".

Yes and keep the lower half still. create the torque from the hips. But there really is so much to learn that your better just taking it one step at a time.

Unfortunately I never had the luxury of that type of chance or advice. I’ve reached a point where I would be embarrassed if there was anyone within site of me playing.

Putting is the only part I feel competent at.

I know what you mean, The thing about Golf is even the best have bad days. Look at Tiger with a 10 on a par three. Or the pro (Can't Remember his name ) who missed the Hole from 2 ft 3 times taking a 7 or 8 while at the top of the leaderboard on the Sunday.

I love Putting also and it's difficult to get right, but not as difficult as other parts of the game. Which is why I'd advise anyone taking up Golf to start with Putting as it's the easiest to get right.

...I  had my first lesson a few years ago and the golf pro took me unto the putting green to start the lesson!!!

He said just step up and see how you do, the hole was about 30 feet away, I walked up stroked the ball then watched it rolling off line, I looked away, the teacher said "did you see what happened " I  looked at him and thought was about to give me a lecture on my technique, but he turned  and said "it went In.....!!

It all went down hill from then, but boy what a on great feeling though. Bet Tiger never did that first time on the putting green!!!

All this golf talk has made me realise that Youri has a golfers touch in his feet. I do appreciate the art form of golf even if my own personal level is just smashing the ball on a driving range. But watching the way he strikes the ball so perfectly is kinda like watching Jack Nicklaus manipulate the ball along the green. Every pass or throughball is perfectly angled and weighted with just the right amount of top or back spin. Whether it's a long drive, a clever little chip or a delicate edgy sliderule pass, his technique is sublime.

That's the thing about Golf, When you least expect it something good happens and when you expect a good shot it all goes wrong. It really is a great game.

As for Putting, It's a stroke of the Ball not a hit. The difference is with a hit you stop the swing when you hit the Ball. With a Stroke you follow thru keeping the Putter on line.

The best Putting tip I got from Phil Michelson's former coach is swing smooth and let the Putter Head follow the Ball towards the hole.

Keep up the practice you'll get there.

Sadly I've never managed a hole in one despite some near misses.

I did play with an ex pro who told me he had shot eight hole in ones.

He said in the old days after Training when the lads would be heading for the Pub, He would head for the Golf Course.

He was a very good player.

There aren't many better sports to play than golf for the average gadgie. Everything about the game and the ability to play almost any course in the world if you want is what makes it so unique. Can't explain the feeling you get at certain times when you set foot on a golf course in certain conditions, it's wonderful.

Bet there a good few players hoping Top comes over soon and gets his debut round done on it so they can get the green light for a go.

He was at the game last night.

Graham Cross?

Ive had one hole in one in 40 years golf  and its not that exciting all  over in a few seconds but nice to  have done the trick.

Proper golf is very enjoyable though and takes a bit of effort

Off topic, but my solitary hole-in-one in thirty years of playing didn’t even count!! I’d schlaffed my shot at the par 3 and played a provisional ........ which went in. To rub salt in, first ball was then located! 😞

Was he?

The club would have made a song and dance of this surely

They may have decided that with ignorant social media publicity re quarantine and isolation periods, it’s best kept low key

assuming he was there of course !

Whatever happens, I’m  sure he needs to be here by the 9th May to make the cup final !!

pretty sure it was confirmed he wasnt there. A few reports to say he was but it wasnt him.

But sure he will be over sooner rather than later especially with lock down easing and the money they have invested again into King Power Racing.
