Not sure Rodgers & the medics can do more for him. Will he ever be fully fit again?

Just give him a new 4 year deal and hope for the best. Oh...

I think we have gone into ultra careful mode, we seem to be taking less risk with players.

On a postive note he is finally starting to look like the Riccardo of old.

I really hope so, the worrying thing with Ricardo is he's not had a good run of games for 2 years now.

Too be fair he played 8 out of 11 PL games and managed 90 minutes 6 times at the start of the season.

Since his been back he play all 3 out of 4 PL and managed 90 minutes twice.

So it I think his moving in the right direction.

I think we have accept his going to be a 1 game a week man form now on.

Hamstring niggle are pretty common in players who have had long term injuries.

It's not a good run of games though is it, he's so delicate. He went off after 11 mins in the 3rd game of the season and then again at half time a few weeks later. Then he was out with a hamstring injury only to return and then fracture his leg a few games after coming back. The same has happened since his return. He's been managed very carefully and yet still he's on the cusp of injuries along the way.

What has improved though is in between this his level of performances are there, he's got the match fitness pretty quickly each time and seems confident, that is at least a positive as a Ricardo for 20-25 games a season doing well is still an asset but I so badly want him to be able to stay relatively injury free.

It doesn't help when Castagne is just as bad at staying fit and Justin has question marks too after a very serious injury. We cannot be in a situation where we need 6 full backs in a 25 man squad, it's nuts.

His been unavailable for 11 league games out of 26, take out the leg break which was down to a poor challenge (4 games) then his only missed 7 games PL games though niggles.

Which say to me he getting fitter and stronger and having more faith in his body. I also think we are starting to see a change in how we manage him and other injuries.

We seem to be taking less risks with player fitness in the last few weeks.

Castange was doing ok, 18 PL games on the spin until suffering an impact injury.

You can legislate for 2 ACL and a legbreak.

Castagne has had 5 or 6 seperate injuries for club and country in 18 months though. Its the story of our team in the last 2 or more seasons. Some of it is just bad luck, others not so. It can't go on whatever.

Hamstring injuries seem to be one of the most significant issues across the whole squad.

I think he'll be fine there just so much pressure on the squad at the minute with lack of cover and form that we can't afford to give players that extra week or 2 recovery and everyone seems to be in the red zone.

It's normal to have a few set backs while working you way to full fitness.

And one of the set backs was a crazy tackle rather than over doing it.

When he’s been on the pitch this season I think he’s been excellent. Always feels like he can make something happen. I’m glad he’s signed a new contract even if we only get 15 games a season out of him and glimpses of brilliance. A tremendously skilful footballer.

Really pleased for him, been a long couple of years for him.

He may well never get back to the levels we saw in 2019/20 but defensively he's still astute and he's still out most potent full back at scoring and assisting. Manage his condition and we have one of the most efficient full backs in the game.

BIG UP YERSEN RICCY

Maybe with a clear run from injuries only has 365 minutes under his belt roughly 4 games since his leg break.

I've seen more glimpse of the old RP this year, then when he returned last season, seems to be getting that yard of pace back.

Just need to manage him like you say which is a lot easier with a fit Justin and Castange.

Was a fantastic interview with him after the game. Genuinely pleased for him. He struggled early on defensively as he was caught being too narrow. But much improved when he was pushed forward. Great to see him score and hopefully a big boost to his confidence.
