He was and he seemed indestructible as well up til that point. I thought he would never get injured. Then Grealish took out his knee and he has been suffering injury after injury since. I reckon he was rushed back to training too soon and he never fully recovered which affected his form as well. Such a shame as he was genuinely worldclass.

Ricky was ever so consistent, every week an 8/10. Such an important player to us and a shame everyone doesn't get to watch a player that good at what he does.

 

Grealish didn't injure him on purpose either, watched it back at the time where it was from an innocuous collision. The medical team checked Ricardo out and okay'd him for the rest of the game ... which was certainly more damaging. Last match before lockdown.

 

A miracle if we ever consistently see him at his best level again.

I would have much preferred that trajectory for his career than the current one :(

He’s without doubt the best fullback to have played for us. Danny Simpson and Fuchs have they’re place in history but there’s not doubting what fully fit Ricardo was like. Sometimes carried us in games!

Would be playing in champions league finals / semi finals. One of the genuine world class footballers, up there with Kante, peak Mahrez for me in that 19/20 season before he got injured.
