frakenfox Posted 5 April 2022 Posted 5 April 2022 Agree, he wasn't "dropped" That said, I'm not sure he's now an automatic first choice. I think we now have the much hallowed situation of 'squad rotation'

davieG Posted 8 April 2022 Author Posted 8 April 2022 https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/foolish-national-media-deliver-verdict-6922791 The Guardian Barnes and Iheanacho fail to take chances as Leicester are held by PSV It was not the perfect evening for Leicester but it would be foolish to be too downbeat on a European night when they largely muted a free-scoring PSV team that have put four and five goals past opponents in recent weeks. The again impressive Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall compared it to a chess match and Brendan Rodgers was rightly encouraged by his side’s vibrant display, even if they failed to find a priceless winner to take to the Netherlands. For supporters, this was a lively contest that served to further whet the appetite for their second-leg meeting in Eindhoven next week, when a semi-final berth in the inaugural Europa Conference League will be up for grabs. This was Leicester’s first European quarter-final since they exited the Champions League against Atlético Madrid under Craig Shakespeare five years ago and while it would not be their competition of choice Rodgers had stressed that his side are in no position to turn their noses up at the prospect of a trophy. The Daily Mail Leicester left to rue big misses in goalless stalemate with PSV Leicester City were left to rue the near misses that mean they face a huge task against PSV Eindhoven next week to reach the first European semi-final in their history. Kelechi Iheanacho shot wide with only the goalkeeper to beat and Harvey Barnes hit the bar in the closing minutes of the half, meaning Leicester must prevail in Holland to progress to the last four of the Europa Conference League, though they also had fortune on their side when PSV were denied what looked a clear penalty, with VAR not in use until the Final. PSV deserved at least a draw from an absorbing game, after Mario Gotze also went close early on. ‘It was a clear penalty,’ said PSV coach Roger Schmidt. ‘But I’m not a big fan of VAR so I can’t complain.’ Sky Sports Europa Conference League quarter-final finely poised after goalless first leg Leicester and PSV played out an entertaining goalless draw at the King Power Stadium to leave their Europa Conference League quarter-final finely poised ahead of next week's second leg. Harvey Barnes hit the bar with a thunderous drive in the first half in what was Leicester's best opportunity of the match, but Brendan Rodgers' side could not find the breakthrough ahead of Thursday's return trip to the Netherlands. PSV, featuring 2014 World Cup winner Mario Gotze, started brightly and went closest when the German was played through on goal after beating the offside trap in just the second minute, only to see his effort thwarted by the outstretched Kasper Schmeichel. The Independent Leicester held by PSV in frustrating first-leg Europa Conference League draw Leicester missed the chance to take control of their Europa Conference Leaguequarter-final after drawing 0-0 with PSV. The Foxes head to Eindhoven next week without a precious advantage following an even and competitive first leg at the King Power Stadium. Harvey Barnes hit the bar and Kelechi Iheanacho missed a golden first-half chance to give Leicester crucial breathing space. BBC Sport Leicester's Europa Conference League quarter-final is finely poised after a goalless first leg against PSV Eindhoven at the King Power Stadium. Brendan Rodgers' side have endured an inconsistent season but keep alive their hopes of lifting silverware come the end of the campaign. The hosts came closest to breaking the deadlock on the stroke of half-time but lively winger Harvey Barnes rattled the crossbar following a one-two with Kelechi Iheanacho. Spoke to a couple of away fans in the Bobby Peel after the game. They said how terrible the atmosphere was - not what we expect from England was the exact phrase - and I didn't have the heart to outline how this is essentially what we're aiming for as a club. A nice, sanitised, clean atmosphere. I imagine theirs will be rocking based on last night's showing. 1 4

Struggling to remember other Old Trafford when PSV have played in England cos they’ve got some outdated view of what English stadiums are like

The 23-year-old provided the platform for victory on day when manager Brendan Rodgers made seven changes from the midweek Europa Conference League draw with PSV Eindhoven. Ademola Lookman and Dewsbury-Hall scored within six minutes of each other before the break. Read the full report here Daily Mail Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall made his first Premier League start less than five months ago but he is already Leicester City’s player of the season and if he maintains this form then England recognition will not be far away. With his jet black boots, no-frills haircut and unfussy demeanour, Dewsbury-Hall is the antithesis of many of today’s stars – but he has little reason to envy them once he gets on to the pitch. Playing on the left of a three-man midfield, Dewsbury-Hall tries to win back the ball as though it is a precious family heirloom. And when he has it, he has eye-catching quality. Read the full report here The Guardian Trading places in the middle of the Premier League will soon be forgotten should Leicester City reach the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League and Crystal Palace overcome Chelsea to reach the FA Cup final this week but this was another reminder of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall quietly but assuredly making his mark as a proven Premier League talent. The playmaker created Ademola Lookman’s opener before swerving home his first Premier League goal as Leicester extended their sound home run to set them in good heart for Thursday’s win-or-bust second-leg tie away to PSV Eindhoven. But once again the Leicester academy graduate, 23, impressed with his overall combination of stealth, touch and work-rate in his breakthrough season at this level. “I thought Kiernan was outstanding,” Brendan Rodgers, the Leicester manager, said. “He’s a young player who since he came into the team is everything that represents a team of mine: honest, industry, works, presses and he’s got good quality. As a No 8, we’re looking for him to score and create goals. So I’m delighted with his quality and honesty.” Read the full report here Sky Sports Goals from Ademola Lookman and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall inside six first-half minutes gave much-changed Leicester a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace. Wilfried Zaha pulled one back for the visitors in the second half, but Brendan Rodgers' seven changes paid off to move them above Palace and into ninth. Both sides are focusing on competitions away from the Premier League with Leicester set to take on PSV in their Europa Conference League second leg on Thursday while the Eagles are going to Wembley on Sunday in the FA Cup semi-finals against Chelsea. Read the full report here BBC Sport Leicester continued their fine run of recent form as homegrown talent Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall played a starring role in a hard-earned win over Crystal Palace. The Foxes started slowly at the King Power Stadium but Dewsbury-Hall carved Palace open with a superb ball for Ademola Lookman to fire home, before whipping his own finish high into the net six minutes later. "It means so much," he said of his first Premier League goal. "It's a dream come true to score in the Premier League. I have dreamt it since I was a little boy. I have come close but I am so happy today." Read the full report here 5

True enough but ours was particularly poor given the occasion. There's no quick fix though. I think the new stand might help keep some noise in if the roof is curved to help acoustics.

This is in part trouble you hear people say it was decent in this section and that section but the rest of the ground was quiet, the sound doesn't seem to travel very well. New stand can also allow for a bit off movement season ticket wise, people in the right areas etc and give a chance for a safe standing and singing section (Hopefully) which will help.
