personally, I think that an apology would help everyone to focus on the semi final..

Fans or players? All I see is that the press get more to write about and it drags the whole thing out longer. Just keep quiet and make no comment.

That action would shave many million off their price tags. Emotionally that decision might be valid but economically it's not and if we want to see the rainbow of success and ambition we have to put up with the rain.

There are a lot of people forgetting that footballers are valuable assets as well as people and no matter what you try and make sure said assets are worth as much as possible especially in this day and age .

Absolutley amazed that the club hasnt made them publicly apologise yet. This should all of been done and dusted by monday with full focus on the Southampton game but the lack of communication from the club means we’re still talking about it now. As soon as Foden and Kyle Walker broke covid rules they apologised to the fans and that was the end of it. Should be absolutley no different here

Making people apologise is utterly pointless and actually counter-productive and largely meaningless, unless you like token gestures.

How is it? Alot of people are still pissed off with them for how ****ing stupid and thick they could be so an apology is the bare minimum to try and ease the animosity towards them.

bit of both, really... once there’s a (genuine) apology, there’s likely to be less of a toxic environment on social media and in general. Even this thread might die down a bit lol

I think a lot of people are enjoying venting about it.

Just logged on and can’t believe this thread is still going and at top of list...same speculation and theories as to who why where and how they should be punished and effect on overall squad morale being repeated ad nauseum in various ways...We know who the 5 are but that’s about the only factual thing we know....Let’s just let the club deal with it and move on from all the speculation .

Im sure they are, but ive no doubt a more public response from the club/players could have pretty much nipped this in the bud early doors as weve seen with other covid breachers at other clubs

Maybe. Or maybe they think/know that actions speak louder than words. I'm just not into gestures borne of guilt - malcontents will always be malcontents, as this forum proves daily.

He didn't do anything wrong with England, neither did he do anything wrong going to play golf. It was probably more ill advised this time as he'd actually done something wrong before hand. But the England stuff was nonsense. Most peoples option seemed to be, don't do that because some idiots and the press will go after you.

I suppose it depends on what you think is wrong really. Maddison was sent home from the England squad allegedly because he was 'too unwell' to continue. It was reported that 'The FA withdrew Maddison and said he could not fly as it was feared he could infect team-mates. He trained with the squad but was sent home before they travelled to Prague'.

That night whilst England was playing he was seen in the Leicester casino.

Now I don't know about you, but if any of my previous bosses had sent me home from work because I was allegedly ill and then the same night I was found 'out on the town' there would have been consequences. If you're that ill that you can't go to work and there's a fear you might infect people then going out at best seems disingenuous. It gives an air of selfishness and couldn't give a shit about others. Everyone one makes a mistake though. However, having appeared on video advising all fans that we should stick together, help the NHS and then make a big thing about physical contact in a goal celebration and take the plaudits, he gets caught out yet again. Personally I just think he's a complete arsehole and a pretentious little spoilt twat. Both England and Leicester City clearly aren't that important to him.

Sorry HPF, I agree with you, the description of the forum and its illustrious members made me chuckle is all  lol

Then you'll get "they don't mean it", "they've been forced to do it". Either people want to get over it or they don't.

Some meaningless apology does nothing for me personally, just don't be a tit again and prove it in their actions.

He had mild flu symptoms and England were concerned about him flying on Thursday with the squad, so they decided to leave him at home. On Friday evening - more than 24 hours after that decision - he visited a casino. He didn’t break any rules and Southgate admitted he hadn’t done anything wrong.

Hang on, they flew out a few days before they played. He'd been sent home long before they played and if I remember rightly he disagreed with their decision that he shouldn't travel with them, he wanted to play.

The England manager was speaking in the wake of James Maddison, who had hoped to be in his squad this summer but appears to have finally blown his chances, being one of three players dropped by Leicester City after attending a party during lockdown restrictions.

Southgate, who had expected to watch Maddison play in Sunday’s Premier League match away to West Ham United, praised Leicester for the way they dealt with the incident although he added that he did not want to “talk about specifics”.

However, there have been a number of off and on-field incidents that have affected the England squad in the past two years and which have annoyed Southgate. “In the end we’ve had issues ourselves in the autumn. That’s always very difficult for coaches to deal with. It puts you in really difficult positions,” he said referring to Ben Chilwell, Jadon Sancho and Tammy Abraham also flouting Covid guidelines. Before that Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood were sent home in September for meeting women in the England team hotel in Iceland. On the pitch, Kyle Walker and Harry Maguire were sent off as was Reece James.

lol I've said all I need to say on the issue involving our players but this bloke has some front. He'll pick who he likes regardless of their off-field issues. You're telling me if Harry Kane did the same as Maddison he'd be left out of the squad?

Do me a favour. He has double standards like the rest of us.

I think perhaps because it isn't the first time with him after his England publicity. After the adverse media reporting then, some people may have thought that he'd learnt a little bit of a lesson. Particularly when he was videoed telling us to follow guidelines and help the NHS.

In which he did absolutely nothing wrong in that whole debacle.

Gotta agree HPF

To do it in the first place equals they don’t give two hoots.

It’d only be the club forcing them to apologise anyway.
I have a strong suspicion that young Maddison wants ‘a bigger club’. He’s probably pissed that his mate Chillers went to Chelsea.

BUT I’m only surmising

Yep I think you could be right, but I don't see many out there with a place for him, maybe Arsenal?  If he keeps getting caught with his pants down, he's going to be stuck with us.

I agree with you. But you can tell if it’s genuine or not.
