...surely if they were independent of the PL clubs, where would the finance come from!!!

Having them use the name is one thing, having them use the cash pot is another. They should be self-financing from merchandise, sales & success, not creaming 10% off the men's bank account for themselves.

Why would TV invest time and monies into showing games where the skillset is so poor

Aside from a handful of players, that is women's football in a nutshell. They are investing in it but the world and his wife can see it's not the same product as the men's game.

The skillset is poorer, the quality is lower, the atmosphere's non-existent. Hit a shot over 6 feet high towards the goal, it's going in. Even Emma Hayes questioned whether goal & pitch dimensions should change in the women's game. It may take a couple of years but eventually someone at the top somewhere will say "y'know what, this isn't that great is it?"

And that's all coming from me who has been pretty supportive of the development of the game in this country especially the national team.

Why would TV invest time and monies into showing games where the skillset is so poor and female players have little or no room to develop. Are you actually harking back to grassroots football as the game has become over commercialised.

We really need to be asking young girls how they see the game and what they would wish to happen because although we can understand the business sense of the game we need to understand what is it that inspires young girls to want to take up the game.

It would grow organically if it proves as popular as people are saying it will.

The media aren't showing games for the money I doubt they get a return it's more to do with inclusiveness and equality you can se it everywhere.

I'm sure those playing for the Richer clubs are loving it but I doubt those at the bottom are getting much help and the longer the Rich clubs have their greasy palms on it the more it'll end up as a carbon copy of the PL which everyone apart from those associated with those rich clubs as far as I can tell feel it's totally unbalanced and biased towards those clubs. So why would they want it duplicated for the women.

Personally I wouldn't watch such low standards of football whether is men or women. As has been said on here we all know who the top six women's teams are going to be  so why bother ? I wouldn't go with a free season ticket.

Saw on twitter someone saying loads of them were in Turkey Cafe the night before... I'm sure it's not true...

they have basically a team of injured players so it could be true but also non of the players that were playing

You've only got to look at a few insta accounts to see which ones are enjoying a few shandies but does a night out at Jug & Jive contribute that much to a 9-0 spannering? Pretty sure the squad in the O'Neill years spent half their wages in one bar or another but they didn't follow it up with too many pastings on a Saturday afternoon.

Anybody will tell you that if you watch SSN and the subject of WSL comes up the only words you hear are Chelsea this, Arsenal that, Man utd the other. Occasionally the odd Everton or Aston Villa name creeps in. It is so biased.

Unfortunately it's no different to the Premier League. It's dominated by those clubs. The FA really need to look at improving the tier below the super clubs. Actually making the WSL larger might make it competitive in the middle tier but you'll have to expect that Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City are going to get ridiculous scores given how their investment dwarfs everyone else's.

I don't think it has it's own thread but as its talked about a lack of demand in womens football within this thread it seems fitting to post in here.

The Womens Euro's 22 (being held in England) is already breaking records for opening ticket sales with over 350k snapped up on pre-order that's more than the mens Euro's pre-sales & the Final was sold out within 1hr of going on sale, again quicker than any mens final + this stands to be the largest Euro's crowd ever surpassing the old mens Euro record set in 1964 that had 79,115 in Madrid.

So i'd say the demand is there

How much are the tickets though? Not that I think it's not popular but it's not appropriate to compare it with the Men unless the prices are compatible.

Granted the tickets are a 3rd of the price but i still think its comparable as a spectacle & that Wembley will have potentially 90k in the crowd for the final of a Womans Tournament regards of cost as costs would be secondary to actually wanting to attend in most cases, i'd think, which shows a growing demand :dunno: but i get where your coming from Davie

I guess this season we just have to be not as shit as Birmingham 🤦‍♀️

Well, there is a more positive spin that that but, yes, basically.

I think we'll achieve the objective of staying up, which I'd say is the main thing, and we'll have learnt a great deal into the bargain too. As everybody probably knows and accepts now, there is a huge difference not just in class but also experience in the WSL. We are comparatively a very young team and still building and learning. Even next season don't expect us to threaten the top of the table.

Well, that was never a foul! Sorry ref but that was so wrong as to merit its belonging to a blooper's reel.

Shanon O'Brien clearly won the ball.

Only one side in it really, as to be anticipated, but we're hanging in there. We're just being out-gunned!

Well that was a bit dumb, shame.

Seemed like lack of communication. Keeper should be screaming to just pick that up.
