Why are you saying cancel all lower division and non league football ? I don’t get your point.

LCFC aren’t funding any lower division or non league teams are they ?

I was being sarcastic in reply to the other poster’s comments. There are large gulfs in talent on the mens side of the game but we’re not calling on smaller clubs to pack it in.

A bit ridiculous to call on LCFC to end funding for the women’s team because of an unsurprisingly difficulty season in the very beginning of a long-term project.

What happens if we get relegated and have to cut back on the funding? How do the women's team still play would they just fold? They should be self sufficient and shouldn't have to rely on the mens game.

A feature on us this Thursday on sky sports premier league Inside the WSL, 10pm. They mentioned it after the match, about the forming of a new team. While we’re not a new team I suppose they’re focusing on turning professional and our rise to the wsl.

Results like today need to be taken on the chin, disappointing but we’re going to get them. Staying up is our first priority. There’s a thriving academy whose long term aim is to produce players for the first team, some are already on the fringes. Having their own facilities is a massive plus and once we’ve established ourselves will be a huge draw for players, a number have already commented on how good it is. I personally think we’re years ahead of other teams with this as eventually I’m sure as the game develops and progresses more team will look for their own bespoke facilities.

....it would be a big turnaround if we were relegated this season!!!

We are pretty closely linked with the ladies team, and it was said that failing to get top four by the men's team impacted on the available spends which were to be allocated to the women's' team.. It maybe too early to take away finance from them, and you could imagine this could be a staggered finance, where year by year any investment is reduced until they then become self sustainable.

We are slightly late to this party, and now playing catch up, it is great to see us in the top league, we just need not to accept consolidation as our limit.

I disagree with you will all but your first point.

I know Belvoir Drive is probably one of, if not the best pro women’s training grounds particularly one which isn’t shared with a mens team… but I still can’t see why the club can’t sell it and move LCFCW up to Seagrave to be with the rest of the club/mens team/academy.

Surely there is space for them up there without it being cramped or fighting for pitches/pool/gym/medical etc? It still feels like they’re somehow seperate from The rest of the club.

I'd have thought they'd want a stand-alone facility for themselves tbh.

My only thought today was that the King Power is too big a stage for them. Maybe use the Seagrave facilities for the games or just have a temporary stand at Belvoir Drive. If we're talking about it being a long-term project then they've fast-forwarded the women to the top level playing facility rather than progressing them through the stages of development. It must cost the club far more to open the ground than they make from it with just a few hundred people there to watch it. But just like goal music, clappers and all the other day-to-day things I'm sure they'll conduct an end of season review and decide what needs changing.

You’re getting way too ahead of things. The women’s team is still at square one.

over 20,000 watched man utd women beat everton women 3-1.

Wasps used to get circa 20,000+ in their first 2 seasons with free tickets given out like confetti.

Were they paid tickets or freebies?

...I did feel they were quite privileged to get the KP as an avenue to play home games!!!

It is not the venue which is bringing these results, we are actually behind in our development. Any games taking place at Belvoir drive would be frowned upon by the locals, developing a pitch with a capacity for 10k  at Seagrave would be a great use of the facility. Other clubs use one site for both teams, but I would suppose that the initial set up for Seagrave would not have included a 10k seating facility, as 499 seating is available and I am sure there is a stipulation linked to that.

Anyone calling for the manager's head just as some are doing over Brendan?

....we setup with Plumptre on the left and Tierney in the midfield, Tierney is better in a back 3 with Plumptre and Howard central!!!

I suspect to some degree the balance just was not right, and we were too overwhelmed at the start to get our shape right. Bedford hopefully has learned something from this defeat.

The women have a Premier league-level training ground to themselves! That's a good thing. Because, yes, they'd be fighting for pitch time and slots with the trainers/medical staff -- that's the nature of the beast.

The fact of the matter is, integrating the academy and men's team is important: That U23 player is being developed for -- ideally -- the men's first team. Same with all the other age groups.

The women's team isn't part of that process. In that respect, they are separate from the rest of the club.

To be fair - I do also agree with you, having a Premier League standard facility, and having that space all to themselves must be fantastic - I’ve definitely heard the Ladies say how much they like Belvoir Drive and what a step up it has been for them.

It’s just a shame that Seagrave can’t be big enough to have the enough space for the club to be fully integrated with perhaps even a small 2nd Stadium similar to Man City/Barcelona etc (we’re massive 😂)

I think Seagrave is too far out for a proper small 2nd stadium. It's a shame something couldn't be done with one of the non-league clubs, I.e. give them Conference level facilities in exchange for a groundshare

I’m seeing lots of ‘jokes’ online about how, we, Leicester fans finally know how it feels to lose 9-0 and how Southampton fans must feel some sense of karma - very weird comments. Anyway, got me thinking, how much do my fellow Leicester fans care that our ladies side have just been hammered? Is womens football starting to grow in the minds of the average male football fan? Or is it still something that the majority just don’t care about?

I personally couldn’t care less about the WSL or Leicester womens side. Just how I feel.

What about the new Arena is that pitch size?

Got to question whether the money invested here is a wise investment Millions of pounds tied up at

Belvoir Drive Who knows the cost in wages tied up in this .

A huge gulf in class and miles off a side even worthy of a top half finish

Attendances are poor and not going to improve unless performances improve

Personally it is a tough ask but think it is time to call an halt to further investment

I agree that the club really should question the investment. Even if the team became chelsea level, it's a grotesque and costly box ticking exercise. ( I actually find it galling that they are even allowed on the KP turf, when they'd be ripped to shreds by a boozed up, overweight Sunday pub side)

No junior girls aspire to be a girl footballer. And I can say that as a dad of a girl who's a junior player. They want to be Vards, Mahrez and De Bruyne.

Bigging up women's football is an insult to the intelligence of my daughter and presumably millions of others of girls. There's no public demand for women's football. Close to zilch. (Apart from comedy YouTube gifs of appalling gaffes)  . Unlike Tennis, Golf (to an extent), Athletics  Racing and many others where public interest means the sports are genuinely self financing

I like superstar women sport stars. I'm colour blind to whether elite sporting talent is male or female. Being gaslighted into supporting loss making dirge isn't a way to win over the public

I got into an argument on twitter over the clubs tweet about non league day, one of the replies was about the standard of non league vs WSL, I just said that's not an argument they can win but seriously I'd back most non league sides to beat Chelsea women let alone ours.

Much like Tennis men's and women's football are basically different sports

The WSL is also a part of the club, and what we do in that league is very much something I care about.

I wouldn't win a point versus a women's tennis pro - any ranking. A female golfer would muller me on every hole (oo err!) . Skier. Horse racer. Snooker player. Volleyball. Badminton. 100m. Javelin. Even rugby.

Yet I'd piss all over City's women's team (lurid double entendre not intended) and I'd probably hold my own versus all but the top 100 players in the world.

Just look at the attemdences for it. Not many care enough to go and watch it.

Women's team should have their own dedicated website IMO or a way of filtering it out on the OS so it is completely separate from the men. I'm getting sick of getting spammed by content I have no interest in, today's performance will probably have loads of "must try harder" "looking for a response" videos I'd imagine.

....the USA are a fledgling footballing nation, Female players came first, now the men strive to make it!!!

The hero worship is for the female players for many girls in the USA, it is logical that whoever comes first gets the glory. Female players are not yet household names in this country and they have to compete against the men who have had the monopoly and branding for over 100 years, you cannot compare the two.

Our mens team isn’t currently self sufficient.

Also, whilst the notion of teams being self sufficient is ok. The woman’s game is having to play catch-up after being torpedoed many years ago, despite getting huge crowds.

I went down today and the scoreline absolutely reflected the gulf in quality, it was siege after siege and probably should have been double figures.

Tell you what though, with how things were going on the pitch I took to “people watching” and my word, is there a fan base you could despise more than Chelsea’s? Some big bald bloke bellowing “WE’RE JUST TOO GOOD FOR YOU, WE’RE JUST TOO GOOD FOR YOU” who was sat next to some kind of Edward Scissorhands looking smack head. Just utterly bizarre altho intriguing to see.
