Good to see Own Goal back too

Zach Booth ('04) scored the winning goal today for Leicester City U-18's in a 2-1 win over Brighton U-18's

19 year old Luke Cundle makes his PL debut today and is looking very composed in Wolves midfield.

Take note Brendan! We have some good youngsters in the academy.

....you have to say that Braybrooke and Alves are too young and not developed enough to compete in the Premier League!!!

Maswanhise, Madivadua and Brunt are not there as yet and too many players in their positions to take a risk for. I have really high hopes for Braybrooke, his lack of pace and physicality might find him out, but I like to watch him play most of all.

Wanya Marca is ready, would be very good in a midfield diamond.

I’d say Braybrooke is ready save perhaps for his physical development (it’s been no problem in the u23s though). Maswanhise should see some action definitely - he seems underused. Brunt would make a good first team utility player. Need to see more of Wanya - he’s won us a few u23 matches so he’s looking good.

Kolo Toure’s son offered a 2 year scholarship

https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/leicester-city-kolo-toure-yassine-6651218

Unlike his father, who made his name as a defender, Yassine is a right-footed attacking midfielder, who predominantly plays on the right wing and wears the number seven shirt.

The youngster, who was born when his dad played for Arsenal, joined City as an under-14 after Kolo arrived as part of Brendan Rodgers’ coaching staff.

In December, he was offered a two-year scholarship with the club, meaning he will play for City’s under-18s until the end of the 2023-24 season.

He has not yet made his under-18s debut - as some under-16s have - due to the form of players like Joe Wormleighton, Kian Pennant and Chris Popov.

There are high hopes, though, for Touré, who is eligible for both England and the Ivory Coast. He is popular among his teammates and highly regarded by coaches at the club.

There will be inevitable pressure on Yassine to live up to the heights reached by his father, as well as his uncle Yaya.

Both men will keep him grounded, however, and if he needs advice on how to cope with the pressure of having a famous father, he need only look to clubmate Kasper Schmeichel.

If he is anything like Yaya we will be laughing

City’s Youngsters Seal Cup Semi-Final Spot
ACADEMY

Leicester City’s Under-18s reached the U18 Premier League Cup Semi-Final stage with a 2-1 away victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday morning.
The youthful Foxes travelled to the south coast in good form, unbeaten in 11 matches and having won two of their three group stages fixtures to reach the last eight of this year’s competition.

Three changes from the side that drew away to Arsenal in U18 Premier League South saw Harvey Godsmark-Ford, Sammy Braybrooke and Will Alves come in for Joe Wormleighton, Kartell Dawkins and Jack Butterfill.

After a tight opening, the Foxes took the lead on the stroke of half-time, when the Seagulls’ Ruairi McConville turned the ball into his own net.

McConville atoned for his error in the second period, netting just after the hour-mark to set up an interesting final 30 minutes at AMEX Elite Football Performance Centre.

As extra-time drew closer, it was the visitors who struck, with substitute Zac Booth finding the all-important second goal to secure a place in the last four of the competition and stretch the unbeaten run to a 12th game.

City turn their attention back to league matters on Saturday 19 February, taking on Tottenham Hotspur at LCFC Training Ground (12pm GMT kick-off).

The details...

City: Chibueze; Grist, Wilson-Brown, Godsmark-Ford; Lindsay, Cartwright, Braybrooke, Kutshienza (Booth 61'); Alves, Cover, Popov (Butterfill 89').

Subs not used: Lewis, Cook, Weeks.

Goals: McConville o.g. 45', Booth 75'.

Would Bayli Spencer-Adams be worth having a look at from the bench for the Randers game ?

From what I have seen of him in the under 23s I don’t really rate him at all, but I didn’t really rate Brunt from his under 23 performances either

Much prefer to give Brunt and Nelson a go ahead of him though

Absolutely not, although he does seem good at attacking and defending set pieces

Spencer-Adams looked better than Nelson in the last match I watched. Neither impressed enough though. I agree Brunt looked better in that first team than in the u23s.

Nelson has looked very ropey for several games now, quite surprising.

Ben Nelson seems to be getting screwed by the obsession with 5 at the back in the youth system. Lately with the back 5 Nelson has been on the right of the 3 centre backs but is almost having to play like an actual right back

In the 2nd half of these games when we have moved to a back 4 and he is playing in the middle he has looked a lot more comfortable

Totally agree with this analysis.

It not a bad thing for his development, sometimes you need to stretch players by making them do new things and work on weaknesses.
