They had about 150 if that in the old N Block.

There's only one city was ridiculously loud that day.

We won the League and FA Cup as Leicester City so that's that however....

I wouldn't mind if we changed to Fosse though. Can't be doing with the media calling Man City 'City' at every occasion. It never happened before they became good the cvnts.

Was that the match when some streaker ran on with MK my arse on his bum

Stuart Hall used to call us Fosse in his 5Live match reports. Thus  proving conclusively that anyone who wants to use the name Fosse is a wrong'un.

I loved Stuart Hall on 5 Live match reports…. Always an epic event

And then he buggered it all up through being outed as a vile paedo

It's as if they have exclusivity on the name. My mate supports ManC and often gets into the City mode which makes me do the same. We have some ridiculous conversations.

It's annoying enough with the modern media doing the City thing but it's something else when ours do it

Very bad etiquette.

I always used to add a team in Football Manager called Leicester Fosse, then try and get them up to the Premier League.

Pointless info I know …..

Remember that game thought long and hard about maybe voting fosse but then decided I couldn't do it, was glad to see when it was a land slide.

I think we won 4-0 and dickov scored 2 penalties?

Wimbledon literally almost had 1 man and his dog in attendance, they looked really glum. I remember that entire season their supporters club asked fans to boycott all their games in protest of the move to MK, they had already moved but that was the last season they were called Wimbledon, think their record home attendance was 400 or something. A shocking situation really. Glad they've managed to find their way back a bit!

More to the point, imagine making such a momentous decision now using bits of paper held up at the ground?

These days it would be a Twitter poll and and an online survey - different crowd!

Bits of paper held up in the ground is way more reliable than any online vote other than perhaps the OS with proof of ST or Membership.

I don't think in those days you needed either to get in. Just turn up and buy a ticket. More often than not they'd be available seats.

I voted Fosse because of its uniqueness and felt right at the time. Amazed how many of those 'C' votes went up.

Prefer City now as we've won all major honours in that name but think we should make more of our heritage by reference to Fosse (although it's Italian for ditch).

I think what is now referred to as the Spion Kop was at one time named the Fosse Stand (or end) which is a much better name.

It’s French for ‘pit’. When we first lived in the Languedoc, we had a ‘fosse septique’ - a septic tank, or cess pit, if you prefer. Time was when that summed up what I (and plenty others of my generation) thought about City.

Wasn't there for the vote but probably would've voted Fosse at the time as it would've been more unique.

As others have said though, our biggest ever achievements are synonymous with Leicester City, so it'd be remiss to try and move away from that now.

Our heritage may be Fosse but our history - no matter how recent - is City through and through.

‘Our end’ at FS was the Spion Kop.

I like the continuity.

I do remember, I grew up on it and survived the Forest riot in '71 and Villa in' 78 (and just about every one between and since). But we left it behind when we moved over the road. What we now have is not a continuation. Just a name which should have been left as a memory for those that experienced it.

I was there for 78.

My lad asked me why it was called that, he was amused by more tales of fights and bonfires.

Sure but Twitter and the like are open to anyone for free including fans of other clubs.

Head says City, for all the good reasons stated above, but heart says Fosse for it's totally unique quality, one of a kind.

However, that said, and especially after this recent incredible era, I can truly say that Leicester is in fact already unique, and we have a club that is defined by so much more than a name.

Fosse sounds to old fashioned... nah leave it in the past. I dunno maybe we could form a non league club and call it Leicester Fosse.

It was Wimbledon. They had no fans there for a reason I can't remember.

They had 50 odd there.  Was because of the MK

Dons business wasn’t it. We had more fans at their place that season lol

You cant get more Common & old-fashioned than City...

In the 60s and Early 70s ,Leicester Fans occasionally would Cheer "Fosse"....more in the lighthearted & cosy sense...

City just seemed to stick & felt comfortable...

But thanks to  that Motorway sign it did give us that unique  identity, that was chanted for years...

probably still the best name we have.....

" The Leicester"....:scarf:

It was about as democratic as you could get.I was a little nervous that the crowd would go for Fosse or at least make it too close to call.It ended up being unanimous.Looked like 98% City.

Just to add, I think Fosse is a better nickname than Foxes

Didn't they do the card thing to get fans to vote on a smoking ban in the stands a season or two before as well?

I think smoking in public places was outlawed a year or two later anyway but we preceded it because of that vote.
