Rudders got quite a bit of stick a few seasons ago (quite right at the time I think, missing deadlines etc.). However, as a club we continue to improve while others seem to decline. Who'd have thought we could compete for signings like we are now?!

Our club is truly brilliant these days. All of these transfers are happening as soon as we hit July, just in time for new contract season to start and in time for pre-season. It excites me that Daka, Soumare and Bertrand (most likely announced Saturday / Sunday) will all be at the club for day one of the training camp to work with Rodgers. This feels really well executed and planned, and not having to wait for later in the window to get things done.

 

Looking forward to Bertrand soon, and am hoping that shiny new Right Winger is also being lined up - that's the position that could really take us to the next level.

 

Delighted with this signing! Just come from a title winning team and with bags of potential. This guy I expect to make a big impression in the Premier League! The last two central midfielders we signed from French football won us the league and FA Cup! No pressure Soumare!

Agree with @kingfox in that I've no idea where he fits in to our best XI as a starter but let Rodgers worry about that. Rodgers philosophy is built on scoring shit loads of goals so he needs to get back to focusing on that after quite a pragmatic season. 

 

Great signing though from improving the squad perspective, his skill set is unlike any other midfielder we have.

He doesn't have to "fit" anywhere in particular. If the last 2 seasons have taught us anything it's that we don't have much of a squad outside of what you would consider our 1st team and when things get tight due to injuries we struggle. Adding this guy gives us real competition in the middle, looks like he can easily replace either Youri or Wilf should we need him to step in. 

 

I would think that the club are disappointed with our showing in the Europa league and will want to go further this year. As FA cup holders we'll want to do our best in that competition too as well as trying to finish higher than 5th in the league. It's going to be a real squad game more than ever this season. If we don't lose anyone (other than Morgan and Fuchs) then our squad is really shaping up, especially if/when we add Bertrand too.

 

The elusive right winger could be the missing piece but we do need a centre back too.

I fully agree with you, depth has been a big weakness of ours, definitely one of the reasons that stopped us getting top four.

 

As I said, he will give us a better option than Mendy and especially Choudhury(who will probably depart anyway).

 

I don’t see a player of his supposed quality, constantly sitting on the bench though, but trying to fit him into a starting 11, you’ll honestly change your mind about 10 times lol
