Yaya Toure took the ball from deep and drove forwards with the ball, getting a team from defence to attack quickly. Vieira for Arsenal was the same. But like Toure as opposed to Vieira, Soumare is less combative, though can still tackle. Probably not as good at free kicks as Toure though!

Personally I think he deserved some criticism at the time but has certainly excelled in the last 3 years.

His physicality is a big reason we've signed him. A lot of the losses at home were down to teams bullying us, think Antonio, Soucek etc. I predict we will see a 433 used sometimes this season with Ndidi, Tielemans and Soumare in games where we want to win the midfield battle. And that line-up isn't as defensive as you might think; Tielemans and Soumare will have licence to bomb forward with Ndidi to cover. Or it might be a regular 343 without a number 10, but an additional box to box player in Soumare.

 

Horses for courses as they say, and we've got plenty of horses Foxes now to select from.

That's mental when you compare it to what we had in the great escape season.

 

And this is just the start of the transfer window! I don't think we'll need much more, but hopefully, we'll get that elusive RW and be able to add Daka/Vardy to that bench, as well. Another CB option wouldn't go amiss, either.

 

I think we're probably at a point now where there is no definite first XI, and (injuries permitting) we can pick and choose based on the opposition.

 

This is almost certainly the strongest LCFC squad of all time.

We were bullied in midfield last season when Ndidi didn’t play. Mendy wasn’t physical enough. And Hamza wasn’t technical enough. Soumaré seems the solution.

Loving these signings and getting them done early too, but realistically it's gonna take Soumare and Daka a year to acclimatise, surely. And Bertrand is back up, I hope. Just being a voice of realism here!
