I recall hearing about Greece but then I looked at his cv and the quality of clubs he had managed and I thought …… you never know , he might do ok …..

I remember the names being spouted at the time. Dyche, Allardyce, Preki (I think Preki is right, was that before or after Ranieri?). Then when i heard Ranieri had the job i was relieved it wasnt any of the other mediocre managers but still not overwhelmed

Me too, I was sat on my balcony on holidayas reading about the appointment, I had shitty internet was son trying to get the facts rather than read opinions so all the negativity passed me by. Checked out his cv, Greece didn’t concern me as that’s international football and a completely different kettle of fish. I was genuinely excited seeing that he always finished in an around the top of the table and had to temper my thoughts as I had visions of us qualifying for europa. Even when one of my mates messaged me with doubts I confidently replied that he was a good appointment, saying he’d do well. Little did I know how well lol

There haven't been too many truly fantastic and memorable days that have I witnessed in all the years I have been following 'The City' but certainly this is up there in, probably, the top 3 or so.

Unbelievably lucky to arrive in the same summer as Ngolo. I expected it to go pretty much how it did in the 2nd season, nobody could have expected that we'd signed the best midfielder in the world though.

Does anyone actually know what happened to Preki between the summer of 2015, until he resurfaced back in the MLS in the autumn of 2016? The link to LCFC is still on his wiki! lol

Same - I recall wondering what our club had done and thought it was a very strange appointment - the rest as they say is history!

I'll admit to being a bit bemused by the appointment but was still in slight shock over the sacking of NP and the Thaigate debacle. I wasn't sure what to expect and willing to give the chap the benefit of time,  as you can never tell how well an appointment will go. We've had many where I've had high hopes and it's been rubbish...Sven, Levin etc

What I didn't expect was to win the bloody league :worship:

I Think thats the difference between alot of FT-posters/ City fans in general...

The pushy, large minority always look on the negative side & are determinied and cant wait too get the First Early  dig ..away.

While others prefer to sit , wait, und give people, the time ,the situation a more than decent chance...

I and some others, I know plus a few more, who fancied & liked the idea, I believe he had been underrated, und the Stamp of tinkerman was nonsense, most Top managers tinker, its a strength,Not a weakness.!!

Puel spite end-weaknesses had a Club Remit Rebuild and reasses...He gave all his inherited-squad

A fair chance, und to be fair so did Pearson...Puels 2 major issues...

he couldnt get the players on his side, hence players distrust of game tactics.

No matter of stature, if he could/would of put a couple of players down & Held discipline...he could of been a success...

Where as Ranieri was a liked well known guy before hand, and had that Finess of getting players on his side..

That season, he humbled a few people, famous, media, and City as well has other Club fans...

even In November when Skys Carragher und others smirked at the idea of Leicester being potential champions,

Neville put in a Good Analyse of Why not,

then Good  Friends of Mine here in Germany ,fans of other other clubs, we also started to lean towards the potential of a suprising  high finish.

One Thing was for sure with Mixed European & English fans aquintances ,

Leicester  in a Short Time had become a pleasant club & Team  to follow,

with Ranieri Not only loveable but also respected, with Maybe only a quarter of the season gone...

Then from Early new year with that Man.City game,Hope changed to high potential ,which wandered Gate -crashed into real belief...

This forum has history of climaxing too soon and spurt out the negatives,

before giving individuals..manager/player/squad/ Team & Club have been given & shown patience, understanding & time...

As a Vehicle the forum has ran-over over every Single player, including those that have stamped their names through past ,

legendary & present Top form, beginnings or present...

Some will have ,that I myself can demean this very forum..No..!  I reckon this forum,

has brilliant banter, fair well balanced debate,

it falls down IMO when

Some just start & Kick in with the negatives, before First giving encouragement & support...

and that  negative-vein becomes the Major issue & theme for any given period..

My look on life with this forum & Club is best said when I say..IMO

Leicester my Club hasnt yet failed /Bottled to get in the Champions-league,

But in the contrary succeeded in securing Europe twice & a first Fa.cup win. We have secured Top 9 in the last 4 seasons .

Due to chronic-injuries to our  top-performers,we have not yet seen Rodgers & the squad, deliver consistent

high-level performances..,though welcomely enjoyed both the growth of young talent ,

then consistent reliable performances & Service from the older experienced players..

We have seen more success over the squad , than we have seen individuals fail to cut it and Not fit in...

Since promotion..our Five managers have done more Good & brought more positive turn-arounds to clubs needs, than any disproportionate failings.

At present Ranieri for me holds that something special, because, he, the bell & his mum, gave us the title,

& all in the Name of Entertainment in my 68 Yrs delivered the best ever pre & post Match interviews even better than the Great past St.John & Greavsy slots.

Rodgers in a Covid, chronic-injury Strewn season, gave us that forever illusive..Fa.cup & 2nd season europe-qualification

Pearson created & built und stabalised with owners that higher disciplined approach, needed to compete at the highest level..

Shakespeare got a grip and stabalised a Rocky season, unfortunately he Couldnt take it further, into the New season.

Puel came in cleared & Cleaned up,After 1-2 season of poor misjudgement ,including Ranieri dismantling a great modern ,before-its-time,backroom staff.

Puel Stabalised a Faultering period, and over-seen more shrewed Player investment, than mishits.

He just didn t have that Mindset ,or character to Take the squad further..

I reckon an interesting question is...If Peason had stayed, and we didn t win the title, but qualified for Europe...

Then we had the same history, just without Ranieri's-title..would fans & forums approach be different in expectations & comment

That’s not when everything changed.

Everything changed when Richard III was buried in Leicester instead of York.

Pleased with this on first instinct.  Of the managers we were linked with I'd say he's easily the best of the realistic choices, a better choice than MON dare I say it.

I have a mate who's a Chelsea fan who laughingly binned him off when he signed. I had no real expectation, thought he'd be alright and would keep us up but was still mostly disappointed that Pearson had gone tbh. Needless to say I laughed my a$$ off on 17th of December knowing we (and Ranieri) probably caused it. It's sad what happened the following season.
