Ndidi did a job at the start of last season in a back four, and now we have Soumare who can take over his role.

Hard when 2 of your first choices are out. We can't just have infinite numbers for every position. We usually play 2 CBs, we have 3 first choice CBs and 2 are injured. It's just shit and we'll just have to deal with it. 

 

Gunna be a long long time before we have a fit first XI, I joked that we wouldn't see one at all last season and now it could be 2022 before we get the chance to put our best set of lads out. Massively deflating just before the start of the season.

Ndidi could do the job, Benkovic could take his chance to be the player we hoped he'd be. If sign a new CB we'll be paying through the nose now.

Probably wouldn't sign on a one year deal, but that would actually be ideal in a situation like this.

 

Kabak is probably more likely, but with such a horrific injury experience wouldn't go awry. Benkovic, Amartey and Nelson might all well start a few games this season now, and we could do with more experience other than Evans alongside them.

Cahill - one year deal. Will get at least 30 games with Europa league and then maybe go for Kabak assuming he’s not signed elsewhere

Have to say, we only have ourselves to blame. Been abundantly clear we’ve needed another center half for best part of two years now and have had the likes of Ndidi, Justin, Fuchs and Castagne filling in there at times. Not to mention the disaster of a loan signing in Bennett.
 

Goes all the way back to that January where we were supposedly after Demiral and didn’t get him because he got injured.

 

Surely the club should have had other options to turn to?

Forgot about Ndidi playing there and as has been said Soumare can go into his midfield position.

 

We'll be working night and day to get another CB in, I'd imagine we've got targets and will push now.

I think we saw tonight Nelson isn't ready yet, it wouldn't be fair to put him that position.

Agreed. It's because of all of our players perhaps him, Ndidi and Tielemans deserve it the least. Fofana is a great person, not just a player. Despite coming to a new country at such a young age he could stuck in right away. Playing brilliantly during Ramadan, doing local food drives, etc. A very humble and hard working guy.
