Wilf at the back allows Dewsbury hall into the team

Fully agree. You are talking about two key highly specialist positions, with differing skill sets. Wilf would and has been found out at CB. He's better at protecting the back line, not being the last line of defence (ignoring the keeper). We need to get someone in, Benkovic is not the answer unless he improves miraculously.

IMO If we Move Ndidi to CB....WE lose 2 players...its that simple..!!

 

Maybe, like last season we will find Another Player player ( or 2) who can step up...

Posters  picking because we "potentially lose  the potential competing for Top 4"

 just proves the point actually how far we are away, Quality,skill, und squad-depth wise,we are from Top 4.....

But again, Why panic over something, we cant change...

Putting wilf cb last game of the season was pretty much what cost us against Spurs as it was to easy to get through the midfield with out him there and he isn’t really a cb. Rather put bertrand there and stick Thomas at Lb

If Rodgers thinks Benkovic is serviceable its his call. If it makes it possible to still get a Right side attacking player then great. I'm couldn't even begin to question his judgement.

 

We still need a defender as the severity of Evans long term injury doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence as to his reliability over the season. And Fofana.

 

We can't ride on fumes and we never spend in the winter window. Feeling like we are riding the edge now but realize we have to be patient because this club doesn't have the cash to spend. Rome wasn't built in a day but we have to keep moving forward.

Watching Fofana get injured, like he did, yesterday has shifted something inside me that I just can't shake.

It's such a waste of wilf to put him as CB.  He controls our midfield with Youri.

Might improve Benko to get a few games. Aren't we supposed to have this great player development ethos? Moving Wilf back is a double disaster, and Wes's is enough for one week. At least Benko is tall enough!

I think the things we had to do last season to keep winning seem normal to some given their success at the time. And it was exhilarating for me to watch us punch above our weight at times given our injury situation.

 

Stop gap is one thing but having to watch two seasons of it is going backwards or treading water for me. I thought our squad was really going to be able to really compete on all fronts this season but am slowly coming to the realization that we are not there yet and are going to have to prioritize again. What this club is trying to do is very difficult even with money.

As for KDH, a lot of you are putting a lot of faith in him on not much evidence. He may turn out to be brilliant but it's too early to say yet. 

....no disputing your statement regarding positions but can that person be just as effective, having changed roles!!!

Rodgers tried that option last season and it was proven to be a poor decision, it may have seemed a logical move but he effectively crippled us in two positions by doing so.

    From what I have seen I believe that KDH can compete in the Premiership, he has the tendency to be the calm one in situations where other players panic, he looks assured on the ball and aware of the players around him. There is no doubt he can hold his own.

Wilf at the back is a bad idea and KDH is not a Wilf replacement as a DM.

Please keep wilf away from CB at all costs. It weakens our midfield AND defence. He's world class in one position and mediocre at best in the other. 

 

Tbh we've bought very promising players this season but not in priority positions. I'd be happy if we used this season to over spend and compensate next season with no spend.

We won 2, draw 1 and lost 1 out of the 4 games Wilf started at CB last season. 

 

So it is not as bad an idea as people think 

 

Soumare offers us a more phyical replacement in the middle of the park.

And we'd go down the pan quickly like the end of last season. We've no proper wing backs for a start. Until Fofana got injured we were solid in a 4 defensively and moving the ball quickly just like our better games last season. Note how much better Ricardo was in his best position, Bertrand too was comfortable. If we lose one player like Fofana or Barnes, do we yet again retreat into our 'just try not to lose shell' and blunt our best assets? We've got enough midfield options now to protect a makeshift centre half partnership and cause the opposition huge problems. We've Armarty and Benkovic as options to play alongside Soyuncu until we can hopefully get another centre half or Evans returns. 

 

It's got to be worth a try against Manchester City on Saturday in a totally meaningless game. Italy let's not forget won the Euros by playing to their strengths and not dwelling too much on the fact they had two reserve fullbacks. Southgate did a Southgate and mirrored Rodgers 'let's try not to lose' end of season tactics. Both failed. Winners try and find a way to win.

Dewsbury Hall will be a sub for Madders or Tielemans for the last 20-30 mins of games. He isn't a DMF.

 

I don't want Wilf at CB, as other have alluded to it's not his position and he's looked off when he has had to play there. Far rather play one of our less fancied CB options in their actual position than throw him in there.

 

We don't have to play players out of position, so we shouldn't.

I can see mid-game when substitutions are an issue but not as part of a starting line-up.
