Very surprised Vardy isn't vice captain.

Not gonna be on the pitch as much I guess and also giving the vice to Evans seems a bit of stamp of long term pecking order on the CB competition. Also, from an organisational and defensive standpoint I think having the captaincies facing forward the whole pitch is probably a smart move. Vards is surely head / senior mascot anyway.

It’s not something we should worry about too much regarding the vice captain. It’s very rare Kasper misses a game.

This is true, he probably only misses league cup games or maybe an 'easy' europa match. But then I would imagine Evans would also miss that too, so up steps the Seniorman!

Hang on...wasn't Schmeichel captain anyway or is this just officialdom now Morgan has retired?

Hadn’t been made “official” until now, we all knew it was gonna happen though

Club captains roles are really only about coin tosses/leading the team out/being the model of professionalism in sometimes high pressure environments.

Not sure if anyone knows if there are bonuses in players contracts for things like these?

Kasper is one of the best public speakers at the club, his media work is always insightful and well measured, he's been through SO much with us and he's absolutely Mr Leicester, perhaps more so than Vardy in a lot of ways. It was always going to be his to take over when Morgan retired.

Evans as Vice captain makes a lot of sense - experienced head at the back, already going to be marshalling people in the game, someone for the youngsters to look towards. Excellent choice.

Vardy will naturally command respect anyway as he's our main talisman, he doesn't need a label thrown his way to justify that. Besides, he's still going to be an integral part of that leadership group that Rodgers has had going on since he arrived, so there's no functional difference in roles there.

I wonder whos in that leadership group now anyway. I imagine its not changed too much, so Schmeichel/Evans/Vardy/Tielemans, and wasn't there another young player involved too? Barnes perhaps?

TBH, as much as we love Captain Morgan, Kasper has seemingly been the captain in all but name pretty much for the last few years.

He's the club's player spokesman, has been the front man for anything public, and we all know he's THE club's natural leader on the pitch.

Anyone disagrees:

Captain does much more than what see on field though.

I've always read stuff about Morgan off field.

Evans' VC shows his importance to the club; I guess his help and influence in training reflects this new role.

Of course Kasper had to be club captain, a club legend. As has been noted he is inciteful and articulate, but must be a  genuinely good person. As we all know,  was restrained from trying to reach the helicopter in which Vichai died, but ensured Top enjoyed  our successes at Wembley. This has one of the highlights of the Cup Final:(because of Kasper)- always worth another look!
