He’s done more work in the last two games than Ayew has done in the last 7 put together. (Not you in particular) But don’t know why people are struggling to wrap their head around what others are saying, no one’s saying he’s good, merely that he’s the best option available to us right now. but he ends up getting hugged by the defender rather than spinning and running. its not quite what I mean. I agree he's done more than Ayew
Popular Post trooky Posted 5 October 2025 Popular Post Posted 5 October 2025 (edited) I think we all getting carried away with Daka, no amount of games trying to build his confidence will result in a decent goal return, he's absolutely shit. We've lowered our expectations so far all we're expect from our strikers is to run about a bit, press and put themselves about. We may as well play the fastest physical lump we can find on a Sunday morning and they'll still be more of a goal threat than this fraud. The upturn in performances is down to JJ, Winks and Ricky P starting instead of Hamza and Skippmare, nothing to do with Daka. Edited 5 October 2025 by trooky 8
Collymore Posted 5 October 2025 Posted 5 October 2025 We're getting to Akinbyi ripping off his shirt levels of a scene when/if he bags next! 2

EnderbyFox Posted 5 October 2025 Posted 5 October 2025 It’s crazy because you see him on Strictly and he’s got lovely footwork, but you stick him on a footy pitch and he’s a disaster 3

Swarles Barkley Posted 5 October 2025 Posted 5 October 2025 I think its fair to say we should give him a run of 8/10 games now. Not been great but he does put in a shift and does worry defenders. If Soumare had functioning eyes/brain he would’ve bagged yesterday

His goal/minute ratio was hovering just above Akinbiyi a little while ago. If he doesn't start contributing I think he'll drop below before he inevitably leaves on a free to Trabzonspor.

But if Rudkin offered him a new contract on the back of it then I would be absolutely gutted😂 I don't see it happening though.

Either would have been a fair Vardy replacement. I’m 99% sure that we looked at Bowen but thought he was “too slow” and “wouldn’t make it in the PL”.

Tbf if he scored 20 goals and got us up, I'd be over the moon but I'd still know that was ridiculously out of character and still use promotion to get someone better. Vestergaard and Faes have been capable at this level. But that doesn't mean they should be rewarded with bigger contracts if they go up

The upturn in performances is down to JJ, Winks and Ricky P starting instead of Hamza and Skippmare, nothing to do with Daka. The simple facts are our striking options are poor. We’ve only got two, Ayew isn’t a 9 or a 10, so he can’t be included. We’ve got Carranza and Daka and then it’s down to the academy. The reason Daka for now has to play, is because of his ability to occupy defenders. Regardless of his goal scoring stats, his pace and pressing compliments the rest of the team. It created the space for the likes of James and Fatawu to pick up the space to shoot from distance. It also allows the 10 to operate in the pockets and have the freedoms of that 20 yard box in the final third. Carranza we still can’t comment on, because he still hasn’t had enough time to really show what he can do. Unfortunately, Daka is the only player who at the moment improves our overall game. So he has to play until someone else can step up and offer what he does plus goals. 2

I'd be over the moon if Carranza kicked on and turned out to be a goal machine at this level but I will admit to being a bit concerned by some of his early showings. He looks, at best, very rusty. I'd be over the moon if one of the academy kids stepped forward with Monga-esque confidence and impact and immediately got a knack for scoring at this level but I think if any were that close to ready, they'd at very least be getting a chance off the bench. The reality is that, for now at least, it's Daka or Ayew and it just isn't a contest. Whatever positive attributes Ayew has or hasn't got, he just isn't a 9. He makes our attack slow, predictable and ineffective. He makes the players around him worse, he makes our shape and balance worse. It doesn't matter that his touch is more confident or that he's stronger, holding the ball up a little is fine, holding on to it indefinitely and not bringing others in to play is not. Daka is just better for the team than Ayew is. Does that make Daka great? No. Do we need better? Yes. This isn't me defending him ad nauseam, the two things aren't mutually exclusive, he can be a poor option and still be our best option. That's just life with Jon Rudkin. 2
