Something irritates me about him. Not sure if it's his name, his beard or how crap he is.

All of the above plus iirc was part of a makeshift defence that embarrassed us previously. Probably like how our next three games will go lol

I'd take a punt on Nicholas Pepe on loan until the end of the season.

We might be able to get an Arsenal player this time as they might not consider us a rival now :(

...he looks better getting on the end of things as opposed to developing the attack!!!

We possibly could use him Mahrez style high up the pitch and on the right. No need to comeback to track runners, just left high up  as an outlet, and a dangerous one at that.

Yeah, I'd have a look at him. I suppose the only problem with his complete lack of tracking back is Barnes is even worse at it. Would we be massively exposed?

Luis Sinisterra, his attacking stats have been incredible this year. 14 goals and 7 assists in all competitions. Also averaging 3.4 key passes and 3.9 dribbles per 90 which is ridiculous even for the Eredivisie.

...with the Fullbacks holding their positions and a midfield three, we would be solid enough!!!

Giving our Centre Backs the protection they need and having the Fullbacks not getting caught upfield, so they can now engage the wide attackers, and stop balls coming into our box.

I'll just repeat myself on players from North America that I think would improve the team, and come at a relatively cheap fee (compared to premier league / continental European players).

Miles Robinson, CB, Atlanta United, 24 years old. He has really good pace for tracking the faster attackers that always seem to burn us. He's tall, physical, athletic... everything we are currently lacking. I could see him giving Soyuncu competition in the starting XI. He's the most consistent defensive performer in a USMNT shirt. He's already drawing interest among Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.

Tajon Buchanan, Wide RM / RW, New England Revolution. 22 years old. I have a huge mancrush on Tajon. I first noticed him playing for Canada, and he absolutely terrorizes every team he plays against. He's got top end acceleration and speed. He has a good work rate, he can deliver a ball, and he shows up at the right time in the box to score some goals. Perhaps a better long term option than Lookman. His stock will probably go through the roof when the rest of world finds out how good he is during the 22' WC.

Tim(o) Weah, RW, Lille, 21 years old. Yep, George Weah's son. He's currently a Demarai Gray type supersub for Lille, coming in often from the bench and get sporadic starts. He's got everything you want - pace, flair, knack for scoring goals. I think he'll make a move to the premier league at some point, and has the kind of physical attributes needed for the speed and physicality of the league. Brendan would be familiar with Tim, as their paths briefly crossed at Celtic when he was on loan. Though he is less heralded than Christian Pulisic (Chelsea) and Giovani Reyna (Dortmund), his form in the national team is going to make some very tough selection problems if all 3 wingers are healthy.

Looks like Buchanan is moving to Brugge in Jan so will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Rodgers would probably still have him back in our box defending corners instead of on the halfway line ready to use his pace for a lightning quick counter.

Since winning the Premier League, we've made two permanent January signings - Ndidi and Diabate, both before Rodgers arrived.

Let's be honest, we aren't signing anyone. The thread is pointless, it's not even worth having having the subforum open in January anymore.

Most we're likely to do is an emergency loan with AFCON in mind.

(yeah yeah, I'm fun at parties etc)

I 100% agree. We will use the return of JJ and Fofana as an excuse not to sign anyone.

Mendy back in the squad is also a possibility.

Won't he be gone for most of January though?

I suppose , if he is selected then yes. That means no Ndidi or Mendy. We might have to make an emergency defensive midfielder signing if we have any money.

I think we both know that  that means Hamza will be playing.

Rodgers when asked about January business "To be fair I'm not sure we have the funds to do that to be honest".

"It's one where you just have to make do with what you have."

I don’t know if we take too much from that statement. Managers always down play their funds. It’s like Pep saying he has no money then dropping £100m.

Where we may see an effect is the calibre/value of player we go for. With us looking ever likely to not make Europe for next year. Any anticipated budget for reinforcements in Jan will most likely be cut.

It's more the flippant comment of "It's one where you just have to make do with what you have", whilst it clear we need replacements and strengthening, i'm not sure how that goes down with the players, players who are already bereft of confidence.

Real Madrid have identified Leicester and Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, 25, as a replacement for Brazil star Casemiro, 29. (Naija)

On his current form if they've scouted him they'll probably look at someone else

Two young Uruguayan, Italian or Argentinian centre-backs - preferably called Diego Assassino or Giuseppe Carnivoré or some such fear-inducing name.

Absolute bastard names there I’m all in
